Our client - an international investment firm with a strong presence in Asia is seeking a Middle Office to join its Hong Kong operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior professional or a fresh graduate looking to build a career in asset management operations.

In this role, you will support the full trade lifecycle from trade validation and settlement oversight to reconciliations and collateral management. You will gain hands-on exposure to the operational backbone of a prestigious global asset management firm, working closely with portfolio managers, traders, and external counterparties to ensure smooth workflows and accurate portfolio records.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support daily trade validation and ensure timely confirmation of equity, fixed income, FX, and derivative trades. Monitor settlement instructions and investigate/resolve any settlement failures or discrepancies with custodians and counterparties. Assist in managing corporate actions, including dividend and coupon processing, and ensure accurate reflection in portfolio systems.
2. Perform daily cash and position reconciliations between internal systems and custodian/prime broker records. Investigate and resolve breaks in a timely manner, escalating complex issues to senior team members. Assist in maintaining operational risk controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
3. Support collateral management activities, including initial and variation margin calls for OTC derivatives and listed futures. Monitor collateral movements and ensure timely settlement with counterparties and clearing houses.
4. Prepare and distribute daily and monthly operational reports to internal stakeholders, including portfolio managers and senior management. Participate in projects to streamline middle office workflows, enhance system automation, and improve operational efficiency.
5. Liaise with internal teams (front office, risk, compliance, legal) and external parties (custodians, brokers, clearing houses) to resolve operational issues. Support ad-hoc requests from portfolio managers and client services teams.

Qualifications

1. University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline from a reputable university.
2. 0–3 years of relevant experience in middle office, operations, or asset management internships. Fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds are welcome to apply.
3. Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of VBA, Python, or other automation tools is a plus.
4. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
5. Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is an advantage for liaising with regional counterparts.
6. Immediately available or able to start within a short notice period is preferred.
