IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices. It employs around 8,500 employees globally and comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and PMO, and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC's technology strategy to support the Group's goals.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Project Manager .

Principal responsibilities

  • Manage the project approach and build stakeholder buy in around the project plan, commitments and changes.
  • Support IT teams to manage delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, resourcing, dependencies, communications, and budget.
  • Work with IT teams and Product Owner to drive improvements in productivity through backlog management, maturity in the use of Agile methodologies, for example Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and corresponding management of dependencies.
  • Provide management to maintain a focus on how the project aligns to wider project objectives, where appropriate, and to the change portfolio across HSBC.
  • Manage, monitor and report progress, issues, dependencies, and risks to the project management, internal stakeholders and/or steering committees. Make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realization.
  • Enforce process discipline and improvements in areas of expertise, such as disciplined agile software delivery, production support processes, and continuous DevOps pipelines development.
  • Help in the development and running of the project management office or project management practice.
  • Ensure adherence to standard controls and drive teams to achieve compliance and framework, capability management, risk management, security controls and technology architecture designs.
  • Establish effective governance and controls, in line with Business Transformation Framework and coordination of cross technology teams across Global Business or Global Functions delivery.



  • A bachelor or master degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in large scale project management.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience in working with a globally dispersed teams.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven risk and issue management skills
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
