We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Insurance Finance Manager

 

Principal responsibilities 

  • Supporting communication on finance matters to Board, Audit Committee, ALCO, and other key forums in a clear and concise manner. This will include articulation of the impact of new accounting standards to senior management and the accounting treatment being applied to new types of transaction where applicable. 
  • Development of the detail of the IFRS 17 processes and controls in BAU in due course. HSBC has a substantial Group led programme in flight to achieve compliance with IFRS 17 and close engagement with the programme will be required at both local and global level as we move towards BAU team readiness for the new requirements. 
  • Robustly reviewing current accounting and reporting practice and procedures, identify and implement initiatives for continuous improvement.
  •  Working closely with the Finance Operations team co located in Hong Kong and India to implement new accounting processes for new business initiatives.
  • Ensuring consistency in the application of IFRS and group accounting policies for the business, working closely with the CFO, the Bank's local and regional finance teams, and Group Insurance Head Office. 
  • Leading the development of technical and business knowledge and capabilities of the team. Continually assess and benchmark these capabilities and service standards to the best in class.

Requirements

  • High degree of technical acumen aligned to incisive commercial insight.
  • Knowledge and understanding of major technical components of the insurance financial statements and their dynamics.
  • Familiar with life insurance products and accounting frameworks, including embedded value measures. 
  • Experience from partnering closely with teams performing life insurance actuarial calculations, including statutory reserving, economic capital and embedded value reporting would be highly advantageous
  • Proven leadership ability and team working skills, ideally in an international environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong sense of risk management and controls.
  • A mind set of continuous improvement and aiming for excellence.
