We are hiring an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join a large-scale Financial Crime Technology transformation programme within a leading global financial services organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a true greenfield initiative, building the next generation of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crime solutions using modern engineering practices and technologies. You'll be joining a highly skilled team responsible for delivering scalable, cloud-enabled and event-driven platforms that support critical compliance and risk functions across multiple regions.

The role offers the opportunity to influence architecture decisions, engineering standards and technical direction while working alongside talented engineers, architects, product owners, compliance specialists and data teams.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java technologies
Build scalable microservices and API-driven solutions
Develop event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar streaming technologies
Participate in solution design and architecture discussions
Deliver software through the full SDLC lifecycle
Support production systems and improve platform reliability and resilience
Implement automated testing and engineering best practices
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance and Engineering stakeholders
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards across the team

Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience
Strong Java development experience within enterprise-scale environments
Hands-on experience building Microservices architectures
Strong experience with Kafka or equivalent event-streaming platforms
Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP or Private Cloud)
CI/CD and DevOps experience
Strong troubleshooting and production support skills
Fluent Cantonese communication skills

Preferred Experience
Financial Services or Banking experience
Financial Crime, AML, KYC, Sanctions or Surveillance domain knowledge
Python development experience
Exposure to AI/ML, Agentic AI or Intelligent Automation
Experience working in regulated environments
Experience with large-scale data processing platforms
