Senior Lawyer - Assistant General Counsel (Hong Kong)

Location: Hong Kong

The Role / Responsibilities:
Newly-created role in a rapidly expanding team for an experienced senior lawyer to provide legal assistance on a wide range of legal issues / projects, including Anti-Money Laundering issues in Hong Kong and Singapore. The role requires a self-starter willing to operate with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Advising with respect to Anti-Money Laundering issues in Hong Kong and Singapore
  • Assisting generally with legal issues in the Asia Pacific region
  • Involvement in strategic projects, advising senior management on key issues
  • Advising on introduction of new MIS products
  • Assisting with review of / advising on regulatory issues
  • Liaising with and managing external counsel
  • Limited travel as required

Qualifications:
  • US law trained / English law qualified / Hong Kong law qualified / Singapore law qualified, with extensive experience of handling the matters referred to above
  • At least 10-15 years' experience in a private practice law firm / working in a multi-national company
  • Experience working in an international environment
  • Experience working with senior individuals
  • Knowledge of financial services products / markets desired
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese (including Cantonese and Mandarin) will be an advantage
