We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Insurance Finance .

Principal responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong control environment across HSBC Insurance in Hong Kong comprising 3 legal entities and 2 branch operations.
  • Manage flexible working teams located both in Hong Kong and at the Global Finance Operations shared service center involved in Accounting and Ledger functions.
  • Act as the gate keeper of financial information on finance systems, ensuring robust underlying information used for financial, statutory and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage the insurance accounting and ledger function of HSBC Insurance in Hong Kong including Macau branch to ensure the ledgers and sub ledgers used for financial, statutory and regulatory reporting are accurate, complete and fully substantiated on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure month end, quarter end, and year end processes are completed by the teams within the tight deadlines defined by HSBC Group Finance and adequate review and challenge takes place to corroborate the figures before they are reported.
  • Own all data on the insurance ledger systems; ensure substantiation and reconciliation of the on book and off book balance sheet accounts.
  • Protect HSBC from reputational, financial, accounting and regulatory risks arising from the financial information included in the accounting ledgers.
  • Own insurance financial accounting and ledger maintenance processes for insurance and changes associated with these.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, for example, bank, reporting team, business, risk and investment team, for data information.
  • Ensure all internal controls over operational accounting exist and operate effectively by regularly reviewing their effectiveness.
  • Ensure the accurate allocation of expenses to various lines of business. Own the cost accounting and accrual process for the Company.
  • Ensure timely review for Shareholders and Regional holding company related reconciliations performed by the offshore team.
  • Execute and mobilize robust and stringent review of current practice and procedures, identify and implement initiatives for improved and effective control over the accounting and reporting processes.
  • Lead the development of technical and business knowledge and capabilities of the team. Continually assess and benchmark these capabilities and service standards to the best in class.


Qualifications
Requirements
  • University graduate in business or finance.
  • Professional accounting qualification.
  • Proven record in managing in an international environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of major technical components of the insurance investment accounting and their dynamics.
  • Hands on experience in operational accounting
  • Proven leadership ability and team working skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders, and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong sense of risk management and controls.
  • Strong change management skills.
  • A mind set of continuous improvement and aiming for excellence
