TRAINEE: Quant & Index Equity Research


SG CIB is the Corporate and Investment Banking arm of the Societe Generale Group. Present in over 50 countries across Europe, the Americas and Asia. SG CIB provides corporate, financial institutions, investors and public sector clients with value-added integrated financial solutions.


The index research analyst role will involve working with SG's top ranked global index and quant research team based in Hong Kong with colleagues in London, Paris and New York. The job will also involve using a variety of data platforms including Bloomberg and Factset and full training will be provided.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone to work with both a market leading Index research team and alongside a highly-experienced quant team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitor corporate and index events for a variety of local Asian, as well as for MSCI and FTSE index families, working as part of a global team
  • Monitor and analyse the impact of corporate actions such as M&A and other corporate and liquidity events, as well as training to eventually predict review adds and deletes
  • Understand such events, index methodologies, as well as being able to monitor and analyze price performance is also important
  • Support the Asia Quant Research function
  • View to eventually be local point of contact to asset managers and hedge funds in region


Your Profile:
  • Hold a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics or similar
  • Highly numerate with strong Excel and Word skills
  • Be self-starting with a strong attention to detail. Accuracy is also vital in this role and key to the reputation of the product
  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Fluent English is mandatory
This is a fixed term 12 month Trainee contract with Societe Generale. You will form part of the team on a full time basis. In order to apply for the Trainee position please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of the Trainee contract.
