VP, Operational Risk, Global Corporate Investment Banking

Position Description

Responsible for assisting in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Operational Risk Framework within a sub-LOB/ECF/Region. This position also supports the APAC regionally Operational Risk activities (including Legal Entities and Regional Governance Routine) and regulatory engagement (including SFC & HKMA) considering Hong Kong as the hub for the region. The role will report to APAC Regional Head of Operational Risk and support the Hong Kong Operational Risk coverage plus the GCIB coverage (including IBK/CBK/Wholesale Credit)

The individual will have responsibility to cover Operational Risk across the GCIB platform in Hong Kong, working with various local Business & Support Partners along with Regional teams to help implement the Bank's Operational Risk Framework and meeting local management and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop/implement routines to capture and analyze information and present independent view of Hong Kong's Operational Risk Profile (key issues, status of remedial actions, etc.) to senior management
  • Ensure applicable global and local Operational Risk related policies (e.g. Internal Loss reporting) are being adhered to
  • Accountable for all Operational Risk related regulatory submissions and inspections
  • Assist (or drive) Post Mortem incident analysis for significant events or key Operational Risk related projects
  • Conduct Operational Risk training
  • Proactively participate Hong Kong's Regulatory Governance routines
  • The individual will report regionally into the Asia Pacific Head of Operational Risk

Key Requirements

  • Ability to learn, use and apply technology and desktop applications to process improvement
  • Ability to drive consensus across a diverse set of stakeholders
  • 8+ years Financial Services experience
  • Understanding of a broad range of financial products Finance/Accounting/Middle Office/Risk Management experience a plus
  • Understanding of global/local regulatory reporting (i.e. Basel II) functions and processes preferred
  • The candidate's professional experience may include past responsibility for business analysis and process design, program management, and communications.
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory inspections.
