Associate Software Engineer
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, IndiaThis is an opportunity for an individual with a strong software development background to join Moody's Investors Service Support Centre in India.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successes developing/supporting quality software solutions, liaising directly with stakeholders, and adapting to the evolving needs of the business. The role will primarily involve coordinating with the NY Fundamental Technology development team to p rovide production support and maintenance & enhancements for Moody's Fundamental applications.
As part of the Fundamental Technology team, the right candidate will have the opportunity to work on software projects involving d atabases and M icrosoft Office automation with strong focus on VBA and .Net.
Experience with the phases of software development lifecycle and debugging skills are essential. Experience with source control, issue tracking and automated testing is highly desirable. Basic understanding of finance and analytical methodologies are a plus.
This role requires exceptional problem solving skills and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate demonstrates a positive attitude, works as a part of a global team and is highly motivated to learn new technologies.
- Development, maintenance and enhancement of analytical tools (VBA/.Net)
- Assist in production releases (including preparation of test scripts, conducting QA and supporting User Acceptance Testing)
- Providing production support
- Assisting in creating documentation covering business logic, work-flows and technical implementation
The MIS technology teams play a key role in ensuring Moody's ability to deliver the highest quality structured, fundamental and public finance ratings. The teams work directly with the ratings analysts to provide quantitative tools, financial analytics and data driven software solutions.
The Fundamental Technology team supports a substantial portfolio of tools and platforms used on a daily basis by analysts globally. The team is located in New York, Bangalore, and Kolkata and reports to the senior management of the Moody's Analytics and Technology Solutions group
- BE (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Financial Engineering or a related field.
Strong coding skills in VBA, MS Office development & debugging skills (3+ years)
- Experience with C#/.NET and Office JS a plus
Experience with source control (SVN ideally) and issue tracking (Jira ideally)
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of different databases (incl. DB2, Sybase, SQL)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English a must
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Rigorous and analytical thought process
- Experienced in working toward tight deadlines
- Experience in Financial Services is advantageous
