BlackRock's Derivative Operations is a global team dedicated to providing outstanding operational support across the organisation with a client-centric focus. The group manages the post trade lifecycle for cleared derivatives and collateral management. It plays an integral role within the organisation interacting with multiple internal partners and external parties including OTC counterparts, futures and derivative clearing merchants and Prime Brokers. Facilitation of strong working relationships with all these parties, including external vendors such as custodians and fund administrators is imperative.

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop and sustain a high performance team through staff mentoring, regular 1:1 coaching sessions and driving employee mid-year / year end performance evaluation cycles.

  • Build a culture of openness, inclusion and proactive engagement at all levels, developing a "bottom up" approach to problem solving that favors creative, data driven, "outside of the box" solutions.

  • Adhere to stringent Operational risk management targets, providing updates on aged or high value collateral or margin exceptions and trends at weekly meetings.

  • Drive and deliver process optimisation initiatives to ensure they are fit to meet future demands and support business growth.

  • Actively participate in Technology / Operations meetings, build agendas, collate and present BAU issues requiring remediation and helping ensure strategic projects remain on track.

  • Develop positive relationships with external providers, ensuring BlackRock's value proposition, technology roadmap, industry position is effectively communicated and supported. Participate in regular reviews to ensure BlackRock ad our clients receives outstanding levels of service from all providers.

  • Assist in business development activities by acting as a subject matter specialist, attending prospect meetings and providing Operational demos to support Aladdin implementation to clients.


Experience

  • Minimum of 9+ years of total experience including 3+ years people manager exposure.

  • Self starter who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, who can lead a team, set and drive agendas by working as part of a distributed team.

  • Creative individual, who possess a passion for problem solving, has superior analytical skills and can think creatively

  • Deep interest in data, metrics, analysis and trends but also an ability to think strategically and keep sight of the bigger picture.

  • Possess an entrepreneurial drive and technical insight to identify control gaps and drive process improvement initiatives.

  • Excellent verbal and oral communicator, capable of articulating sophisticated problems and influencing behaviour at different levels of the firm.

  • Has the ability to influence and collaborate with internal partners to push through agendas.

  • Excellent understanding of the Derivative post trade workflow

  • Experience transitioning or setting up new teams

  • Proven track record of owning an operational process, and through optimisation, can demonstrate the creation of scalability, capacity creation, risk reduction and benefit to the end client

  • Identify, manage and remediate all aspects of daily Operational risk embedded within the Collateral or Clearing function

  • Capable of gaining a detailed understanding of the Aladdin architecture framework, working with engineers / SME's to drive the technology roadmap and improve system capabilities.

  • Project Management and Process Improvement skills (Prince, Lean, Six Sigma) or experience working with robotics / AI would be advantageous

  • Comfortable collecting and distilling process improvement requirements from internal and external users to provide technology partners with a clear understanding of enhancement opportunities

  • Experience using data to drive decision making and strategy, and a willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Proven track record of building and managing teams

  • Customer service oriented and experience facing off with clients or partners

  • Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated concepts simply and clearly
