What is the Manager – GTS Core Ops responsible for?
 
Global Trade Services (GTS) is part of the wider IAO group encompasses Corporate Actions, Pricing, Security Maintenance and other IAO teams.
 
This position managers the GTS Core Operations Groups by providing administrative direction, training and staff development, coordinating workflow, reviewing critical reports and technical procedures, and resolving complex asset reconciliation/broker maintenance problems.  Ensure the accuracy, technical quality and timeliness of asset reconciliation packages, trade settlement tracking and reporting, client routing processing, and broker and underwriter setups by following IO policies, procedures, internal controls and complying with rules and regulatory requirements.
 

  • Manage the daily workflow of the GTS Core Operations Groups to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions, asset reconciliation and trade settlement.
  • Supervise a group with varying levels of experience and backgrounds.  Responsible for the training and development of assigned personnel.  Establish career plans with staff.
  • Plan and set departmental goals.  Assist manager in developing and improving procedures given the current systems utilized and new systems being developed.
  • Manage and participate in various projects in the department.  Identify project objectives, resources and barriers, and implement project strategies.  Ensure successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Business Continuity - provide direction and make decisions during unexpected events.  Assist in developing and maintaining business continuity procedures.
  • Strategic Planning - participate in meetings and develop a strategic business plan for the GTS Core Operations Groups and Investment Operations.
  • Crisis management – Ability to recommend and implement a plan of action to meet objective when the systems are down, system processes are not functioning or other uncertainties in the system environment.
  • Audit Coordination – Point of contact for audit inquiries, participate in meetings, and facilitate responses to requests from the auditors.

 

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Manager – GTS Core Ops?
 
Fails Management/Pre-match/P&S breaks

  • Supervises the daily settlement function by reviewing daily work, addressing and resolving technical and logistical issues as they occur, thereby ensuring the accuracy of the Trading systems, and technical quality and timeliness;
  • Ensures that settlements process is conducted in compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Resolves and escalates settlement problems
  • Supervise daily work in accordance with department’s review checklists
  • Ensures that all daily work is performed within policy and procedural guidelines.

 
Trade Execution/Completion/Trade Messaging/BSI Support

  • Supervises the daily completion/execution function by reviewing daily work, addressing and resolving technical and logistical issues as they occur, thereby ensuring the accuracy of the Trading systems, and technical quality and timeliness;
  • Broker maintenance in compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements;
  • Resolves and escalates execution/completion problems
  • Supervise daily work in accordance with department’s review checklists
  • Ensures that all daily work is performed within policy and procedural guidelines.

 
Process improvement

  • Leads and participates in various projects in the department; Identifies project objective, resources and barriers, and implements project strategies; Ensures successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Evaluates and offers suggestions for improvement to workflows, departmental policies and procedures.
  • Works to enhance Straight Through Processing for all functions performed
  • Leads testing of new systems/functions
  • Drives for solutions by constantly looking at reducing risk and streamlining processes

 
Staff development

  • Leads training of staff on GTS policies and processes
  • Conducts staff appraisals and identifies development paths
  • Motivates and challenges staff
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations

 

Risk Management

  • Manage risk and prioritize the workload effectively
  • Escalation of potential issues at earliest possible opportunity
  • Highlight issues and report root cause and trends to management
  • Coordinate audit reviews, responding timely and thoroughly 

 
 

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related major or equivalent experience is required for this position.
  • Graduate level finance or business courses will be viewed favorably.
  •  Professional qualification/certification in finance, accounting or management highly preferred
  • Five to Seven years of investment industry experience required
  • Three  years of supervisory and/or leadership minimum experience required
