Support Function is also the first touch point for the user queries and would be required to interact with Researchers, Portfolio Managers & Traders globally.The position is for an Application Support Engineer in Investment Systems Support Function to support Alpha Generation processes developed by Alpha Gen Technology (AGT) team based in London, Budapest, San Francisco and Sydney.Alpha generations processes supported by this role help BlackRock investment teams generate market-beating performance (alpha). These processes are built by AGT in close partnership with investment researchers to develop predictive signals and strategies that are traded on BlackRock hedge funds and other active portfolios. Processes are developed in advanced technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Java, Python, Stanford NLP and Matlab.Job Purpose/ ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities are:

  • Proactively monitor the health and status of 100’s of investment models traded on BlackRock hedge funds and active portfolios. Research and Prod environments.
  • Respond quickly to any delays or issues: then diagnose, resolve, validate and communicate to key stakeholders. This requires a broad range of technical skills spanning Java, Python, MATLAB, SQL
  • Identify software and process enhancements that will help improve stability, performance and help automate and streamline support and technical management
  • Work with development teams to define, implement, test and release changes that improve the reliability, performance and supportability of these systems.
  • Work with other teams and vendors to resolve the issues on timely manner.
  • Continuous learning with dev team sessions to stay up to date

Qualification:

  • A four-year degree specializing in Computer Science, Technology, MIS, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar.
  • 4+ years of experience in a technology role, not necessarily in financial services
  • Strong Written and Verbal Skills
  • Candidates must have a strong interest and aptitude for quickly learning new technologies and proprietary systems as required

What you’ll learn on the job – and desirable skills:

  • Programming/Scripting: experience in any of Java, Python, R, Matlab
  • Big Data and Distributed Computing: Hadoop, Spark
  • Database: SQL with any of Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server
  • Job Management: Autosys or any other tools to control jobs
