Investor Relations / PR
The PR department is the main interface between any organisation and the media. It aims to create and maintain a positive and reliable public face to the world.
Investor relations focuses on keeping the investors in the firm fully informed and happy with the way the firm is operating, and its strategy going forwards. By having the right people in investor relations jobs, is it much more likely that investors will be kept on-side.
Internal and External PR Roles
Many larger financial services companies have opted to retain an investor relations and PR department in-house, focused solely on their own communication needs.
However some institutions still choose to use external third parties to either manage their entire communications strategy or to facilitate certain events or campaigns.
eFinancialCareers therefore cover the entire range of both internal and external investor relations and PR jobs to ensure you get a complete picture of the opportunities available.
The Role of Investor Relations PR
Investor relations can be much more formal than a standard PR or marketing role in financial services.
Extensive technical and financial knowledge is required to fulfil the many queries that originate from the press, and also to fulfil enquiries from potential and existing shareholders and investors.
Investor relations roles require business strategy skills, as well as developing close relationships with the institutional investors (including investment managers, pension funds and insurers) that hold stakes in the company. These investors must be consistently supplied with the most accurate and up to date information.
The role is far reaching, covering anything from preparing for and presenting at fund-raising roadshows and press conferences through to attendance at shareholder meetings and high level private investor conferences.
The ultimate aim of anyone with an investor relations job is to become a consistent and reliable communication channel between the company and the financial community, providing a positive image for investment in the company and facilitating the fairest security valuation.
