FINANCIAL CONTROLLER FOR A GLOBAL INVESTMENT FIRM (M/F)

THE JOB :

The Financial Controller will manage a portfolio of companies, producing the financial statements of the Luxembourg SPVs and will report to the Accounting Manager, based in Luxembourg.
He/she will join a team of around 10 people


The main responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining the books and records of Luxembourg SPVs;
  • Accounting for inter-entity transactions;
  • Monitoring the movements of cash within the deal and fund structures;
  • Calculating allocations of income and expenses up to the different Luxembourg SPVs;
  • Performing calculations of, and monitoring accrued interest on, purchased securities and remitting payments received in Luxembourg to the company in the US;
  • Working along with other company staff and external advisors in transactions involving the purchase and sale of debt instruments / investments;
  • Preparing periodical financial statements of the company's Luxembourg-based entities;
  • Preparing periodical VAT returns;
  • Liaising with third parties such as co-investors, auditors, tax advisors and banks;
  • Assisting the Accounting Manager with any other accounting related or cash management projects which may be required to be undertaken from time to time including any matters relating to the reconciliation of company's bank accounts in Luxembourg;
  • Assist in preparing training materials and presentations on new accounting guidance/disclosures;
  • Liaising with external lenders, responsibility for all borrower-related tasks;
  • Contact point for external borrowers, assist with various ad hoc requests including accrual computations;




THE CANDIDATE PROFILE :

  • Master degree is required, preferably in Accounting. CPA preferred;
  • 5 + years of accounting experience within the financial services industry preferred, experience with a Big-4 firm is preferred;
  • Strong appreciation for the importance of investment structures and the maintenance of their books and records;
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and the ability to apply relevant company accounting rules;
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; and BOB50 software. Any other accounting software is considered as an asset;
  • Experience in PE/RE is a very strong asset;
  • Knowledge of IFRS is an asset;
  • Experience of Loan documentation (Credit Agreements, trade settlement documentation, the various Agent Notices);
  • Knowledge of Loan administration (Term and Revolving Facilities, information covenant compliance, Drawdowns/Repricings etc);
