The Division

The Investment Product and Fund Strategies group is responsible for product management and is the sponsoring of Wellington Management's various fund ranges (including UCITS and AIFs) across equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative strategies, globally. As of 31 March 2020, Wellington Management Fund's (WMF) Global fund businesses comprised of ~ 80 funds domiciled in various legal jurisdictions with assets of US$42 billion from institutional and distribution fund investors in many countries.

The Position

Based in our Luxembourg Investment Fund Manager (IFM) and working cross functionally with various Wellington Management business groups, the Business Analyst will be responsible for the governance obligations of the WMF Global funds business, managing relationships with certain delegates of the IFM and with primary focus on the Wellington funds domiciled in Luxembourg and Ireland (UCITS and AIFs).

The individual in the role will help support the Conducting Officers/Designated Persons of the IFM/the Irish fund company (collectively the Executive Committee) and the members of the Boards of the various legal and fund entities within the WMF Global business.

This role will include the coordination and oversight of content for regular board and committee meetings, managing relationships with board and committee members, overseeing external service providers for related outsourced services, leading regulatory and governance  projects for the WMF Global business and managing the oversight and due diligence of functions delegated to affiliated Wellington Management entities (e.g. investment management, technology, certain marketing activities).

This position will have a dual reporting line to the Manager, Governance, Business Policies and Practices and the Head of the Luxembourg office.

  • Management of the timely production, collation, qualitative review and distribution of board and committee materials
  • Effecting board and committee appointments, inductions and ongoing evaluations
  • Assisting with the training programme of the Boards and the Executive Committees
  • Point of contact for all board related matters
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the board and committee members (internal and external)
  • Organising all WMF's board, committee and shareholder meetings
  • Managing external corporate secretarial and other service providers
  • Being familiar with and ensuring adherence to applicable governance related laws, regulations and codes, working closely with legal and compliance colleagues. Leading implementation of required changes
  • Completing the commercial registry, regulatory returns, mandate filings and ongoing notifications and confirmations and maintaining records, registers, databases and signature lists
  • Enhancing the oversight of delegated investment management and related practices. Contributing to the ongoing oversight obligations
  • Developing and maintaining policies, procedures and best practices related to governance and delegation matters for the WMF Global fund business


The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of progression and achievement in the funds business ideally including experience working with boards/committees and on governance matters. The candidate will have a capacity for differentiated thinking, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work across teams. In addition, the candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills in English, the presence and leadership qualities needed to execute governance obligations and the ability to lead and facilitate cross functional projects and meetings in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Extensive relevant professional experience, including experience in the governance or management of UCITS/AIFs with a solid understanding of the investment management and fund business
  • A technology mindset and knowledge of Diligent Boards
  • Strong academic credentials /ACIS qualification preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, identify, research and resolve unfamiliar issues
  • Deadline focused, organised self-starter with the ability to manage/prioritise multiple projects and issues
  • Ability to identify, research and resolve unfamiliar issues
  • Strong business judgement,  analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proven experience managing outsourcing projects or vendors is a plus
