Financial Controller

Financial Controller (M/F)

Who we're looking for

The Financial Controller will be part of the Continental European Financial Controlling Team.
The successful candidate will bring extensive knowledge in German GAAP and IFRS, Financial/Management Accounting to manage the relationships with relevant counterparties in Germany and other locations.

What you'll do

• Responsible for the internal reporting to the headquarter in London and to the local offices
• In charge of external reporting to the regulators
• Responsible for key controls, reconciliations and adequate documentation
• Responsible for tax compliance of certain entities
• Maintain and own the integrity of financial records
• Providing timely, accurate and business relevant financial commentary and business decision support
• Act as the liaison point for all third-party matters (auditors, tax consultants, business stakeholders etc.)
• Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements
• Attending Board meetings if required

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

• At least 5-7 years accounting, financial or auditing experience (German GAAP, IFRS)
• Strong Excel knowledge is a requirement
• Experience in the use of a corporate accounting system (e.g. ORACLE, SAP)
• Fluent in English and German, any other language skills would be an advantage
• Focused on quality and timely delivery
• Demonstrating integrity and accountability
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Strong analytical skills with high affinity with numbers
• Well organised
• Providing timely, accurate and business relevant financial commentary and business decision support
• Ability to work in a matrix structure
• Ability to work with a broad range of people from different backgrounds / nationalities
• A good understanding of business situations and complex structures
• Willing to travel occasionally


The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

• A good understanding of tax compliance issues (international VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing) is an advantage
• Accounting qualifications (e.g. ACCA, ACA, certified German Accountant) would be an advantage
• Experience in the asset management business is an advantage
