This role plays a key part in safeguarding the risk integrity of our Luxembourg Super ManCo, authorised as an Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) and UCITS Management Company (Chapter 15).

Operating within the Second Line of Defence, you will provide independent oversight and challenge across financial and non-financial risks, ensuring alignment with Franklin Templeton's global risk framework and local regulatory requirements.

You will support robust investment decision-making and governance across a broad range of strategies, including private asset classes such as Real Estate, Private Equity, and Private Credit.

About the Department

Permanent Risk Management Function - Luxembourg / EMEA

The Luxembourg Risk team is an integral part of Franklin Templeton's global Risk organisation, delivering independent, data-driven oversight across EMEA.

The function is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and reporting financial and non-financial risks across UCITS and AIF structures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

Working closely with portfolio management and key stakeholders, the team contributes to governance forums, challenges risk-taking activities, and supports a strong risk culture. It covers both traditional and emerging risks, including liquidity, valuation, and operational resilience, leveraging global tools and analytics to deliver forward-looking insights and protect investor interests.

How you will add value

Risk Framework & Governance
  • Develop, review, and enhance risk policies, procedures, and frameworks in line with regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Contribute to governance committees and escalation processes, ensuring clear and effective risk communication
  • Ensure alignment with the global FT risk framework and local regulatory expectations

Risk Measurement & Oversight
  • Define and monitor key risk indicators (KRIs), limits, and risk profiles across asset classes
  • Perform in-depth portfolio risk assessments, including for illiquid and private assets
  • Review valuation approaches and key assumptions, ensuring robustness and consistency

Investment Risk Analysis
  • Conduct risk analysis using appropriate methodologies (e.g. VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis)
  • Provide independent challenge to portfolio management and support investment decision-making
  • Identify emerging risks and translate findings into actionable insights

Control Testing & Assurance
  • Design and execute testing of key controls within the risk framework
  • Identify control weaknesses and support remediation actions
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and high-quality responses

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Enhance risk models, processes, and reporting capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
  • Support the use of data and visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI) to strengthen risk insights

Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Culture
  • Collaborate effectively across the First and Third Lines of Defence
  • Deliver training and promote awareness of risk policies and standards
  • Contribute to a strong and embedded risk culture across the organisation

What will help you be successful
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in economics, finance, or a quantitative discipline
  • Three years' experience in the fund industry in Luxembourg, ideally in a risk management role
  • Strong understanding of Luxembourg and EU regulatory frameworks (UCITS, AIFM)
  • Solid knowledge of risk management concepts, asset management, and financial markets
  • Experience with valuation methodologies and risk models (e.g. DCF, multiples, VaR, stress testing)
  • Understanding of private/alternative asset classes (Real Estate, Private Equity, Private Credit)
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and communicate complex topics clearly
  • Ability to engage constructively with stakeholders and provide independent challenge
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and solutions-driven approach
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken); French is an advantage
  • Familiarity with data and risk systems/tools (e.g. Power BI, eFront, Aladdin)
  • Professional certifications (CFA, FRM, CAIA) are a plus
