(Senior) Risk Reporting Officer

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Risk Management Directorate (RM) – Regulation and EIB Group Risk Department – Regulation and Reporting Division - Risk Reporting Unit, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Risk Reporting Officer. This is a full time position at grade 5/6.


The Unit ensures timely and robust monitoring and risk reporting to internal and external parties both on a portfolio and/or on an operation-by-operation basis as per agreed process and procedures. The Unit also provides explanations and analyses of reported information in the form of presentations to the attention of the Management Committee, the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors

As (Senior) Officer, you will define, plan, implement and maintain reporting solutions in line with the EIB Group’s policies, latest regulatory requirements and/or contractual mandate agreements in order to provide the decision makers with an appropriate understanding of the mandate-related risks and their impact on the Group’s objectives

Operating Network

Reporting to the Head of the Risk Reporting Unit, you will work in close collaboration with colleagues in Risk Management and other Directorates, such as front office Lending, IT, Financial Control, Legal, and loan portfolio management, as well as with the European Investment Fund (EIF).


  • Define, develop and implement risk reporting solutions for internal and/or external counterparties in line with the accountabilities and calendar of the Unit
  • Drive the continuous alignment between available reporting solutions and the business need, in order to produce risk reporting in line with the risk reporting internal calendar and/or mandators’ contractual agreements 
  • Drive the integration and streamlining of the existing reporting produced by the team
  • Define and draft business requirements and testing implementations in order to improve and enhance the risk reporting solutions
  • Identify integrations and enhancements for the risk reporting related to mandates, ensuring compliance with BCBS 239 standards and internal reporting guidelines
  • Contribute to the mandates agreements drafting process reflecting risk reporting and data needs appropriately
  • Participate in the definition of risk reporting solutions enhancements (drafting business requirements and testing agreed implementations)
  • Act as business owner of risk reports in larger projects involving several Directorates and/or applications
  • Participate in the Bank's efforts to ensure ongoing compliance with its framework of best banking practice in the area of risk management and BCBS 239 compliance
  • Respond to ad-hoc/non-recurrent/complex demands including initiatives/policies related to the content of the post when needed
  • Ensure back-up of tasks in the risk reporting areas of activity of the Unit in line with accountabilities and calendar of the Unit.


  • University degree, preferably in IT, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Economics with a solid quantitative background. Postgraduate studies in one of these subjects would be an advantage
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, at Officer level, ideally gained in a risk management, financial reporting, mandate relationship a/or external reporting function
  • Prior experience of risk measurement methodologies and tools, as well as EIB/EIF mandate knowledge, are considered an asset
  • Excellent BI reporting tools and VBA programming skills are pre-requisites for the role
  • Deep understanding of industry risk reporting principles and standards (including BCBS 239) are required
  • IT project management / consultancy management skills would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*) and a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an asset

 (*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in French. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of French and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank's working languages
