Position Description

Responsible for assisting in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Operational Risk Framework within a sub-LOB/ECF/Region. Responsible for assisting in the execution of one or more of the following: Complete Op Risk Assessments. Challenge and advice on LOB/ECF/Region Op Risk KRI's. Challenge LOB/ECF/Region Risk and Controls Self Assessments. Review Operational Losses for issues. Participate in Scenario Analysis and monitor gap closure. Assess effectiveness of LOB/ECF/Region Governance. Monitor levers affecting op risk capital. Analyze emerging operational risks. Participate & challenge within LOB/ECF/Region Risk/Control committees. Execute or leverage the Validated Reliance Model. Act as the ambassador of the risk culture to LOB/ECF/Region. Develop and direct staff. May direct staff. Incumbents typically have over 5+ years of risk management and LOB/ECF/Region experience.

Global Banking and Markets ("GBAM") Operational Risk is a critical division within the risk management framework as the Bank follows the Basel Advanced Measurement Approach ("AMA") status at the corporate level.

The individual will have responsibility to cover Operational Risk across the GBAM platform in Malaysia working with various local Business & Support Partners along with Regional teams to help implement the Bank's Operational Risk Framework and meeting local management and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop/implement routines to capture and analyze information and present independent view of Malaysia's Operational Risk Profile (key issues, status of remedial actions, etc.) to senior management
  • Ensure applicable global and local Operational Risk related policies (e.g. Internal Loss reporting) are being adhered to
  • Accountable for all Operational Risk related regulatory submissions and inspections
  • Assist (or drive) Post Mortem incident analysis for significant events or key Operational Risk related projects
  • Conduct Operational Risk training
  • Proactively participate Malaysia's Governance routines
  • The individual will report regionally into the Asia Pacific Head of Operational Risk and locally into the Malaysia Country Risk Manager.

Key Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to learn, use and apply technology and desktop applications to process improvement
  • Ability to drive consensus across a diverse set of stakeholders
  • 8+ years Financial Services experience
  • Understanding of a broad range of financial products Finance/Accounting/Middle Office/Risk Management experience a plus
  • Understanding of global/local regulatory reporting (i.e. Basel II) functions and processes preferred
  • The candidate's professional experience may include past responsibility for business analysis and process design, program management, and communications.
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory inspections.
