We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Associate Director, Country Coverage, Global Banking.

Principal Responsibilities:

Applicants should have a genuine interest in forming a career within the Banking business; have an interest in corporate activity and how the bank can make a difference to clients through the delivery of product solutions and service to develop relationships with the largest local corporates across HSBC's international presence. The successful applicant will be a driven self-starter, with an inquisitive mind, wanting to further their career in corporate and investment banking with HSBC's Global Banking and Markets franchise.

  • Sitting within Country Coverage (RM team), the applicant would bridge the gap between the RM teams and key working partners such as the Infrastructure & Real Estate Group, Debt Capital Markets and Risk.
  • Working closely with local Relationship Bankers across the Local Government-Linked and Privately-Owned Corporates, Multinationals and Public Sector client base, to help support transactions specifically related to the Real Estate and Infrastructure Sector.
  • To create and lead HBMY's GB strategy from a Coverage perspective relating to the Real Estate Sector, including origination of new-to-bank opportunities.
  • To monitor and manage GB's Real Estate cap to ensure sufficient headroom for key transactions and mitigate concentration risk.
  • To support RMs on submissions to CAC and Risk, sharing best practices across different segments and transferring knowledge where required.
  • Acting as point of contact internally with Credit & Risk, Compliance, Risk Analysis Unit and support teams for the designated client base.
  • To become a leading participant in HBMY's Infrastructure Working Group, ensuring that we are fully mapping the ecosystems of key projects within the country and opportunities for the bank across its entire product suite and client base.



· Strong knowledge of the Real Estate and Infrastructure sectors within Malaysia
· Evidence of past experience relating to non-recourse real estate financing or project finance is preferred
· Business development and origination skills
· Ability to initiate marketing activity, and support the marketing activity of others
· Ability to establish rapport with appropriate members of client's management team
· U nderstanding of risk management and credit mitigants
· Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis of credit risk.
· Strong financial analysis capability, accounting or finance degree preferred
· Ability to develop good working partnerships with credit and product areas
· Strong IT skills (including Excel, Powerpoint etc)
· Ability to research and develop themes for business meetings
· Knowledge of the full spectrum of Global Banking & Markets products and services
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· A team player with a positive attitude
· A focus on developing a long term career within Global Banking & Markets
