Settlement Officer, DCC

HBMB is one of the largest custodian banks in Kuala Lumpur, holding shares valued at about 11% of the total market capitalization. 95% of our income is derived from overseas institutions (banks and non-banks) that use us as their sub-custodians. The sub-custodial business has increasingly become more competitive as assets transfer from one custodian bank to another can be electronically effected.

Principal Accountabilities
The main responsibility of ensuring that all trades are settled promptly and at the same time, ensuring that customers' service standards are met.

Responsibilities:
• By ensuring that all trades are attended to and settled promptly with the existing resources and
minimizing losses to the bank by achieving zero error rates.
• By building rapport with the customers and keeping them informed of their trade status especially
in cases where there might be potential problems followed by regular updates.
• By ensuring that queries are attended to promptly and full compliance of service level agreements
and standing instructions are in place.
• Builds team morale and intersectional communication.
• By maintaining professionalism with regards to dealing with counterparties and fostering goodwill
and cooperation with regulatory bodies.
• By identifying staff training needs, recommending appropriate courses and guiding/counseling
them when necessary.
• By constantly reviewing workflow processes to identify areas for technical improvement.
• Maintain and ensure due observance of HSBC Internal Control Standards, including the timely
implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
• Ensure Awareness of compliance requirements and implementation of Group Compliance Policy.
