Senior Governance & Regulations Officer

ING is looking for...

a Senior Governance & Regulations Officer

Job description
Over the last years, the banking sector has been in a regulatory 'storm' that is continuing to roar. The new regulatory demands need reflection in our policies and our way of way working in general. Therefore, we are now looking for a senior Governance & Regulations officer to strengthen our new team!

You will be interpreting (new) regulations and contributing to ING's compliance from a financial risk perspective. This includes, but is not limited to, translation of these regulations in ING's internal policies. You will project manage the formation (and be involved in the subsequent implementation) of these policies in close alignment with senior stakeholders from the business and the risk organisation. Additionally, you will keep yourself informed on new / updated regulations that are being proposed by regulatory bodies and that are relevant to ING's financial risk management. You will work in a team that forms opinions on these proposed regulations and ensures that these opinions appropriately reach law makers and regulators (including via industry organisations).

Your work environment
On March 1st, the Financial Risk Governance & Regulations team has been formed as a result of a merger between the former Policy & Regulations teams of Credit & Trading Risk and Balance Sheet Risk and two supervisory on-site coordinators. In that sense, you will be part of a fresh new department that recognizes the strong link between external regulations and internal policies. The highly diverse team consists of 13 people and has a global scope. You will report into the Head of Governance & Regulations.

Who we are looking for?

  • Master's degree.
  • Strong can-do and getting-things-done mentality.
  • Excellent English writing and conversational skills.
  • Strong communicator with enough gravitas and organizational sensitivity to operate comfortably with senior management.
  • Able to explain complex topics in an understandable way and not afraid to ask questions.
  • Good project manager with excellent sense of urgency and able to work autonomously and on several projects simultaneously.
  • Pro-active, collegial team player with good influencing skills.
  • Analytical with ability to think both high level and with attention to detail.
  • Affinity with the regulatory environment.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience (work experience in a regulatory or supervisory environment is a plus)
  • In-depth knowledge on multiple credit and/or trading risk-related regulatory or policy topics (specific knowledge on IFRS9 and the CRR is a plus).

What do we offer?
  • the opportunity to help shape a relatively new department
  • a 36-40 hour workweek
  • job grade 11-12, depending on experience
