Do you think that is possible?Macro trends forces investors to take a long-term view on their investments, considering the population growth that requires 50% more energy, 40% more drinking water and 35% more food in 2030 (compared to 2015) in a world that reaches its social and environmental boundaries. These are challenges that effect our bank and the investments of our clients.The Sustainability department is involved in the development of investment and other financial products and services related activities for the bank's private banking activities in The Netherlands and abroad, as well as for our retail banking operations in the Netherlands. The teams adds knowledge and experience about the sustainability risks and opportunities in financial products and services.As sustainable investments ("SRI") do not underperform compared to more traditional investments, ABN AMRO has the ambition to make SRI the new normal - after all, why would you not want to invest sustainable especially knowing that the appetite amongst our clients is growing (already >30% of our clients invest in a sustainable way)? Also consultants like McKinsey acknowledge that SRI has moved from a niche towards a mainstream investment offering. Therefore ABN AMRO has the ambition to double the current SRI client assets from ₠8bn to ₠16bn before 2020, by making it the standard flagship offering for Dutch clients.Together with the Products & Solutions ("P&S") department the team is responsible for achieving this ambition. It coordinates ABN AMRO's SRI offering from a global level and delivers a sustainable and innovative investment offering for Retail and Private Banking clients. The focus is to maintain, develop and innovate the SRI offering across the different locations with a very significant impact on client satisfaction, NNA growth and revenues. Moreover, the department is responsible for sustainability for all investment and savings related products and services. The department acts as the initial point of contact between the Private Banking network regarding the SRI service concepts offering and sustainability in general.Between 2017 and 2020 the team has the aim to deliver: 1) an SRI education program for all front-office investment staff, 2) set up a team of international SRI experts, 3) successfully introduce impact reporting, 4) create an international sustainability board, 5) increase our engagement capabilities with companies and investment funds, 6) monitor and report on our SRI efforts closely and report on it in our annual report.The jobholder operates in a complex international environment across multiple locations, multiple client segments and in a mix of cultures.The team has the ambition to fulfill ABN AMRO's ambition to be a leading Retail and Private Bank in terms of a sustainable investment offering. Next to the 2020 milestones the team is responsible for the development and implementation of the sustainability strategy for Retail and Private Banking with a focus on Sustainable Investments. It has to make sure that there is a solid SRI offering in all countries by 2020 the latest. To achieve the goals there is close cooperation with the internal P&S team, private banking, retail, several products and marketing teams, etc. The jobholder is specifically responsible for the definition, implementation and monitoring of specific SRI risk metrics, controls and reports to support P&S activities.Are you ready for a next step? Your job
The jobholder is involved in all sustainability activities of the team including developing the sustainability strategy, initiating new sustainability initiatives and business opportunities and translating these into business cases, managing projects and coordinating these across the ABN AMRO network and contributing to internal awareness. Building internal and external awareness and changing the mind-set is another key purpose of this job. Key result areas are: Contributes to Sustainable Investment strategyGathers and analyses information on aspects of Sustainable Investing, follows the activity of competitors. Follows new developments, spots new opportunities. Keeps track of sustainable AUM. Supports in formulating a sustainability vision for Retail and Private Banking. Supports in the development of a strategy for making ABN AMRO an industry leader in terms of sustainable investment offering. Is responsible for the translation of the sustainability vision and strategy into concrete initiatives. Monitors and reports on progress, intervenes when faced with issues and manages key stakeholders. Develop the sustainable investment offeringThe jobholder is responsible for the development of sustainable products and services. Creates an effective sustainable product range for all Client segments. Ensures a significant increase of AUM in sustainable products and delivers a sustainable investment offering that attracts new clients. Ensures integration of Sustainability in investment advice and research. Deliver on new sustainability initiatives and ambitionsIdentifies and initiates new Sustainability business opportunities. Prepares business cases for new initiatives/products/services. Contributes to Sustainability Board and MT presentations. Is able to project manage the implementation of approved Sustainability business cases within agreed timeline & budget and engaging all relevant stakeholders. Supports Evolution of Exclusion list (the Controversial Weapon List (CWL))Coordinates together with the Central Sustainability Team the composition of the CWL. Builds knowledge of the companies on the CWL. Manages the communication flow around the CWL Manage periodic reportingManages information and contributes SRI achievements to ABN AMRO's Annual Sustainability Report. Manages the process of gathering information for contributing to the annual PRI reports. Coordinates input for and contributes to annual studies performed by external parties like VBDO & Eurosif. Provides information on R&PB sustainability performance to external sustainability rating agencies like Oekom, Sustainalytics & Eerlijke Bankwijzer. Build Internal AwarenessContributes to building awareness regarding sustainability within the organization. Initiates and organizes activities for different audiences to engage staff on Sustainability e.g. Knowledge Bites, Coffee for Change, an annual network Sustainability day or other events. Coordinates the content and communication of the monthly network call. Ensure Communication & CoordinationKeeps contact with relevant departments within the bank regarding Sustainability activities. Coordinates content for Impact Newsletter. Supports AA Social Impact Fund in PB Network coordination. Presents Sustainability activities/approach to varying audiences.

  • University degree (Doctorate, Master, Post Graduate) in the field of economics, finance or in social sciences applicable to finance is strongly preferred, complemented with professional certification (CFA, post graduate) with more than 8 years' experience in project management.

  • Knowledge of and broad understanding of sustainability and the main themes.
  • Good understanding of Investment process.
  • Experience in working in a cross-cultural business environment.
  • Knowledge of change Management and Innovation.
  • Knowledge of communication (verbal, written) to address a variety of audiences within different cultures and countries.
  • Proficiency in at least 2 languages (English and Dutch or French).
