Tradeweb is looking for a trade surveillance and compliance professional to provide trade surveillance coverage across Tradeweb's Netherlands- and UK-based trading venues. The individual will also support the Head of International Compliance to develop and execute a local compliance monitoring plan, providing regulatory compliance assurance to the local board of directors. This is a parental leave fixed term cover, with potential to extend beyond that initial fixed term depending on business and personal performance.









Main Responsibilities include:



Trade Surveillance (~80%)

  • Manage and ensure daily execution of internal procedures designed to ensure that our Netherlands and United Kingdom markets remain fair and orderly;
  • In particular, using the systems available to us, monitor order and trade activity to identify behaviour which may be indicative of market abuse, or other behaviour which may damage the integrity of the markets;
  • Plan and conduct thematic reviews pertaining to potential incidences market abuse and disorderly markets, including across our markets;
  • Conduct investigations into unusual and/or outlier activity and document findings. Use results to evolve surveillance system, recommend protocol updates and determine whether further escalation is appropriate.
  • Escalate reasonable suspicions, as appropriate, to the Head of International Compliance, together with appropriate analysis and recommendations;
  • Take forward agreed actions, including preparing and submitting reports to appropriate regulatory bodies, notably the FCA and / or AFM;
  • Support Tradeweb to maintain open and co-operative relationships with our regulators, in particular being an internal expert resource on the topics of market abuse and maintaining orderly markets.

Compliance (~20%)
  • Work closely with the Head of International Compliance and the Head of Risk and Compliance in the Netherlands to establish a compliance monitoring plan for the local business;
  • Maintain the compliance monitoring plan, ensuring its daily execution and the reporting of conclusions;
  • Plan and conduct thematic reviews and testing across the business and regional business lines to identify potential internal control weaknesses and instances of potential conflicts of interest
  • Provide recommendations on any remedial actions needed in identified areas of actual and potential breaches;
  • Conduct core compliance work including colleague on-boarding, compliance training, monitoring personal account dealing, outside business interest monitoring and managing gifts and entertainment requests;
  • Conduct due diligence and client on-boarding for all potential new clients and ensure all KYC documentation and procedures are in place to ensure compliant on-boarding;
  • Review and approve financial promotions and other marketing material;
  • Update and maintain local and regional internal policies and procedures in response to regulatory changes and developments;
  • Prepare papers to support the Head of International Compliance report to the legal entity board and internal committees;
  • Be proactive locally, to foster and maintain a business-wide Compliance culture and with key internal stakeholders.


Qualifications:

Essential Skills / Experience:
  • You will have experience ideally gained in brokerages, securities trading, regulator or exchange environments. You will have a strong knowledge of the Market Abuse Regulation and the policy objectives that drive the need for strong trade surveillance capabilities. You will also have an interest in broad compliance work and be willing and able to organise and execute our local regulatory compliance needs.
  • As Tradeweb establishes its presence in the Netherlands this is an organic role, requiring dedication, flexibility, and commitment to adhere to (and improve, where necessary) trade surveillance procedures, and to build out the compliance monitoring plans. You will need to be a team-player and be comfortable working across borders to support our International agenda.
  • Previous experience of working in the Netherlands is not essential but the successful candidate must be committed to living and working in the Netherlands. You will also be sufficiently flexible to spend time in London (intensively at the start, for training, and periodically thereafter to collaborate with the International compliance team and others throughout the Tradeweb business). Fluency in Dutch is desirable but not essential. Fluency in English is essential.
