Business Continuity & Crisis Management Officer (within CoE Non Financial Controls)

Make sure that the BCM Minimum Standard are adequately applied within the Organisation

  • Ensure that the Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management plans are updated, reviewed and approved at least annually. This includes the challenging of Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) to determine if requests are in line with ING strategy
  • Provide active support to all colleagues from various Business Lines and IT departments who are setting up and maintaining the BCP's and DRP's
  • Ensure the BCM processes are regularly exercised or tested, by preparing, organizing and coordinating training events to evaluate the effectiveness of plans and prepare key actors for business continuity incidents and crises
  • Based on training and exercise outcomes, identifying training needs and updating plans to make sure that they reflect reality and support effective decision making under time-pressure and uncertainty.
  • Ensure that the BCP and DRP repositories and dashboards are up to date
  • Ensure employees are trained and aware of their roles in the implementation and execution of the BCM process
  • Act as alternate SPOC for BCM topics for all 1st LOD (line of defense) related issues with respect to all internal and external parties. The latter includes regulators, auditors, suppliers, etc...
  • Perform the Key Control Testing and discuss results with 2d LoD
  • Align with the IT organization (CIONL) for all DR aspects and participate in the coordination activities with other IT organizations with presence in the Dutch data centers
  • Support the development, testing, exercising and preparedness of the data center down planning
  • Identifying risks that could impact reputation, safety, security and financial prosperity of ING by engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare meetings with DNB/ECB
  • Prepare and collaborate to various reporting.

Project activities

Support the implementation and translation of requirements of ING Policies and Minimum Standards
  • Create new BCM templates
  • Understand and challenge new scoring methodology
  • Review and challenge all documents from CIRM and ORM Group
  • Implement all changes within ING DBNL

Support the implementation of DNB and ECB Recommendations within the business lines or other regulators
  • Act as alternate SPOC for meetings with DNB/ECB
  • Explain all changes and requirements within the organization

Ad-hoc support to requests impacting Business Continuity or Crisis Management

Crisis Management

  • Elaborate Crisis Management scenarios (in close collaboration with concerned stakeholders)
  • Participate in the decision process to launch the crisis management team as a result of a Major Incident or event impacting the bank's stakeholders beyond a certain threshold
  • Supporting senior management by coordinating the crisis management decision making process (which includes incident logging) and making sure that plans and procedures are followed in a correct and timely fashion.
  • Act as crisis management facilitator in facilitating the crisis management activation and its follow up (crisis conf call, meeting minutes, lessons learned, ...)
  • Maintain the crisis documentation up-to-date
  • Organize and coordinate crisis exercises
  • Be alert of all events that could generate a disruptive event

  • Has a good insight in the 10 Non-Financial Risks of the Bank and how to manage them
  • Is able to manage a diverse set of initiatives across business lines and Lines of Defense
  • Has strong capabilities to manage crisis
  • Has good knowledge of the governance, structure and organization of the Bank
  • Has good knowledge of Operations processes and products
  • Has an above average knowledge of (and experience in) Information Technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, both in English and Dutch
  • Significant (5-10 years) experience with implementing and maintaining BCM and CM controls, like BCM and CM plans and playbooks, training exercises, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with coordination activities during major events and crisis situations
  • Working knowledge of relevant BCM & CM regulations, ISO standards, etc.
  • Extensive computer skills (MS Office, SharePoint and relevant internal ING applications)
  • Good antenna for weak signals and events in and outside the organization that could impact ING
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Ability to work within a complex, networked and agile organization
  • High levels of self-direction, self-initiative, autonomy and diplomacy
  • Ability to work effectively under conditions of time pressure and stress
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Program and project management experience obtained in an international environment
