Our client is leading European investment bank and is looking for Product Controllers for their growing team out in Wroclaw. They are keen on hiring at the VP and AVP level. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years+ experience (AVP), or 8 years+ experience (VP) in similar role within Investment Banking. Competitive local salary.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Product Control are the financial guardians of the bank's sales and trading activities and therefore play a critical part within the broader finance organisation in providing independent validation of the Investment Bank’s Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet. 

The successful candidate will have exposure to other areas of the bank, including Operations, Ops Risk,  IT, LEC and FO, as well as PC Senior Management. The role also involves assistance in the wider Divisional Controlling deliverables.

 

THE ROLE INVOLVES:

* Manage a group of  Line Product Controllers supporting various businesses

* Responsible for daily P&L reporting/validation  on a timely and accurate basis to Front Office, Business Control and the Finance systems in accordance with reporting deadlines/requirements 

* Management of month-end accounting close in accordance with internal Financial Reporting deadlines, including Balance Sheet substantiation

* Proactive monitoring and management of controls pertaining to exceptions analysis and  clearance - work closely with Operations, IT  and Front Office to ensure timely resolution

* Process  and resource improvement

* Deadline and escalation management

* People management, including motivating & developing staff

* Ensure that performance objectives are aligned to Product Control & Firm Strategy

* Client relationships, many of them remote

 

Key Deliverables

* People management, including resource, deadline and escalation management

* Process improvement

* Daily P&L validation and analysis, journal entry and review

* Problem solving – identify and report issues – and suggest / implement solutions

* Monthly and Quarterly reporting and Balance Sheet substantiation

* Control reporting including SOX documentation and other reporting

* Building relationships with Front Office, Operations, and Finance Change

* Represent Divisional Controlling at meetings and provide feedback to line management

 

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST POSSESS:

* Graduate degree, Finance or Economics preferable but not mandatory, with 10 years’ work experience in a financial organization – prior PC experience within Investment Bank preferable

* Strong Excel skills 

* Strong process skills

* Strong understanding of accounting policies and standards relating to investment banking products

* Excellent Communication (English) and organizational skills 

* Control mind-set

* Ability to work to tight daily and monthly deadlines with an attention to detail
