APAC Infrastructure Project Manager

The Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) Enterprise Program Management Office provides project management services to clients with qualified project management professionals that lead GTI programs and projects using Standard Waterfall and Agile Project Management execution practices, tools and templates. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the matrix management of project teams, and oversee complex technology related projects including LOB Technology demand, end user, network, distributed, mainframe, cyber security and real estate build out related services and technologies. These projects support the growth and operational stability of the JPMC business in addition to delivering enhanced technology and cost reductions into the operating environment.

This Project Management role is focused primarily on managing large projects based on multiple technologies. This is a senior role involved in the different stages of the success of a project manager or scrum master, including: the funding, planning, scheduling, implementation and tracking process .

You will be driving the delivery of projects across all services working closely with your project team, resource managers across all regions and multiple GTI & LOB technology teams while interfacing with senior managers and stakeholders in the organization. This individual requires broad business process experience, relationship building and client management skills. Projects may be large cross-functional in nature, or major strategic initiatives, and may be underway or planned. Strong leadership, excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to remain calm and perform under pressure are a must have.

The Project Manager will also be required to manage complex engineering projects based on evolving technologies and will coordinate & monitor the scheduling, pricing and technical performance of engineering projects. The project manager must ensure adherence to master plans and schedules and develop solutions to project problems. All projects should be completed on-time and within budget, driving project management and financial rigor to ensure planning is realistic while also supporting strategic objectives and timing. The project manager should act as an advisor to the wider project management team regarding projects, tasks and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for running complex projects
  • Ensure all projects are delivered with high quality, on scope, on time & on budget
  • Provide governance and controls to all project financials to include developing business cases, forecasting, understanding P&L, depreciation etc.
  • Keep all projects on track escalating decisions to executive sponsors as necessary
  • Organizing the design and development of the Project
  • Ensure risk management strategies are followed and reviewed within guidelines
  • Plan and set project goals and milestones based on approve SOW, IDD, etc.
  • Responsible for overview requirements documentation
  • Identify and secure resources including project team, vendors and consultants
  • Detect and solve project issues effectively
  • Supervise the project management team
  • He/she must make sure proper project management standards and rigor is applied
  • Acts as the communications conduit to executive sponsor & project stakeholders; conducts regularly scheduled briefings/status updates
  • Serve as single point of contact for project level issues / questions / escalations
  • Prepares and/or provides project reporting, metrics, scorecards, etc.
  • Leads technical projects from initiation through implementation
  • Partners with key stakeholders to identify project inter-dependencies that may influence project success.
  • Supports team in distributing project information to executive management, and key stakeholders.
  • Create an environment that breeds trust and collaboration with others. Exhibit a strategic business focus with a customer-focused perspective.
  • Recognize areas for internal improvement and developing plans for implementing them.
  • He/she must make sure all the measures comply with company standards and procedures
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Budget / Financial Management including Business Case completion
  • Evaluation of impact to Total Cost of Ownership for multiple simultaneous, complex projects

Work Experience
  • Substantial IT Project Management experience, or relevant business or team leadership.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with projects in multiple technologies, functions (e.g. transaction management, risk management)
  • Extensive experience in managing projects through all phases of the life cycle and expert working knowledge of an industry recognized Project Management methodology
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard project management tools for financial and project reporting (i.e., Clarity, Beeline, Microsoft Project)
  • Formal project management training and discipline knowledge required
  • Knowledge of technologies, systems, drivers and trends in global investment banking environments backed by a solid understanding of the banking industry fundamentals
  • Awareness of Agile Project Management techniques would be beneficial.
  • An understanding line of business technology drivers
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking regulatory, compliance, risk and security aspects
  • Proven experience managing geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups
  • Knowledge of Permit to Build and Permit to Operate
  • Extensive experience with multi-million dollar projects with high complexity and client focus.
  • Proven experience at delivering high quality projects on time & within budget
  • Extensive experience at presenting metrics to key stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills across functions and teams, up and down the chain of command
  • Listening and gathering customer/user inputs. Simplifying complex topics for non-technical audiences and preparing quick pointed summaries for executives and stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of, and adherence to, Standard Project Lifecycle requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferably in the financial services industry
  • PMP, MSP, Six Sigma, or other formal project management discipline preferred; familiarity with SDLC and Agile delivery practices beneficial
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills across functions and teams, up and down the chain of command
  • Proven ability to lead project teams in delivering on time, high quality solutions
  • Experience with Project Task Estimation, Resource Scheduling, Risk Management, and Issue Management
  • Collaborates effectively with peers & broader technology teams to ensure successful deliveries
  • Ability to listen, analyse, influence, negotiate and use judgment to solve complex issues in order to accomplish project goals
