The CFO manages a team of professionals across the Group, in finance, strategy and risk management roles. While 25% of the CFO's time will be devoted to the nuts and bolts of financial reporting, analysis and oversight of regulatory obligations, 75% of the role will be in understanding and developing commercial opportunities and broader strategy - both commercial and operational - in order to develop the P&L as quickly as possible.

Leadership: strategic development and culture

  • Playing a lead role on the EXCO and the wider business to shape, communicate, engage and execute our Vision and Strategy
  • Drive strategy and change across the Group towards our Vision and annual targets

Business Planning

  • Responsible for working alongside the EXCO team to develop the Group's business plan including Loss Ratios, Expense management and Capital allocation with the intention of improving the P&L year on year
  • Provide commercial insight and leadership across the business in order to exceed business plan targets

Financial management, control and reporting

  • leadership of the Finance function across the Group, overseeing reporting, controls and prudent financial management
  • Represent the wider Group financial activities and initiatives
  • Lead the review and oversight of the monthly Management Accounts and Management Information for the business and use this information to prioritise actions and drive business performance
  • Responsible for timely, insightful and relevant financial data to Group and Board of Directors
  • Manage expenses to remain with agreed budget
  • Principal point of contact in respect of reserving matters

Risk and Governance

  • Responsible for ensuring the risk and compliance management framework is embedded and operational for the Group

Team performance management

  • The CFO manages a team of Finance, Risk, Management Information and Strategy professionals
  • Lead, manage and motivate team to perform their level best

  • Highly commercial savvy professional with and excellent track record of delivering results, business insight and value from finance
  • Intuitive sense for good commercial business decisions - seen as a business person foremost
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Strong strategic planning skills - the ability to put financial and risk decisions into the context of the short, medium and long term business needs
  • Credibility and gravitas to gain the respect and trust of stakeholders. Able to influence at the highest levels within the organisation and operate effectively with investors and other 3rd party stakeholders
  • An open style with the ability to translate complex subject matter expertise to senior colleagues with clarity
  • Exceptional analytical skills that have been developed within a highly respected professional environment
  • 3 years' experience in strategy / planning / analysis role
