Business Unit Overview:

International Fixed Income is focused on delivering a range of investment products through the risk spectrum from Index replication through to highly sophisticated hedge funds. The team manages these products using a number of different investment styles including Fundamental and Model Based and provides solutions to both retail and institutional client bases.

Job Purpose/Background:

We are looking to hire an EM Asia & Middle East Macro Analyst to join our expanding Asian Fixed Income Portfolio Management team. Based in Singapore, the analyst will be responsible for analysing regional economies with a focus on developing investable ideas across FX, rates and hard currency bonds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and advise both local and global PMs on investment ideas for coverage universe
  • Identify macro, technical and political themes and trends driving regional markets.
  • Help develop and maintain quantitative valuation and trading models.
  • Interact with sell-side analysts and other investment professionals on investment views and risks to regional economies.
  • Serve as a resource for, and share information with, other investment professionals at BlackRock.

Development Value:

  • This role works closely with the APAC rates & credit portfolio management teams, and the candidate will have the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of the components of portfolio management. The candidate will also interact with global investment teams and Blackrock Investment Institute specialists, tapping into, and interacting with deep and highly specialized expertise across the firm.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Between 7-12 years of working experience on economic and macro analysis with a focus on the EM Asia region.
  • A track record of working and investing in Asian markets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong ability to engage with colleagues both within and across timezones.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in economics and/or finance with strong quantitative, statistic and analytical background.
  • High level of computer literacy with advanced spreadsheet skills. Ability to program in Python and/or R preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong ability to engage with colleagues both within and across timezones.
  • Language skills, particularly Mandarin, preferred

  • Must possess the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
