Executive Director - Strategic Initiatives Banking

The banking global strategic initiatives team helps drive and execute the strategic agenda. The team works under the guidance of Management Team and directly with the business impacted by the programmes it implements. The team collaborates closely with other units of the bank, among others Finance, COO, CIO teams, Strategy Team, etc.

The team members have commonly experience in strategy consulting in the banking sector or in execution roles in corporate, investment, retail, commercial banking.

The Strategic Initiatives team focuses on developing and executing strategic priorities, including innovation agenda. It provides exciting and challenging opportunities for driven candidates who want to either pursue a career in the current team or transition into business/function after a few years. The team works with the senior most stakeholders on a variety of projects related to business, geographies or functions. As a talent incubator for it can open prospects for moving into other exciting roles. The team is co-located with the senior management team in Singapore.

ROLE AND DESIRED PROFILE - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

ROLE

  • Support the Global Head of Banking Strategic Initiatives in the formulation and execution of the overall Bank's strategy and specific projects, in line with the risk tolerances and financial objectives agreed with the Board.
  • Play a leadership role in planning and leading projects
  • Represent the Strategic Initiatives team in senior management discussion on a regular basis
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Manage and guide the work of Associates and Associate Directors throughout their project assignments and help with their professional development - potentially play a formal Development Manager role.
  • Drive team initiatives (e.g., recruiting, training)

DESIRED PROFILE

The ideal skill set would combine financial services knowledge, a 'consulting toolkit' (from a top consulting firm) and/or change management skillset and 10 years of working experience. Typical candidates would be Junior Partner or Associate Principal level in consulting or equivalent if in Banking.

In an ideal candidate, we look for:
  • Banking consulting experience with a top tier firm and/or with strategy functions of leading banks
  • Strategy execution or strategic programmes/change management experience
  • Emerging markets knowledge or experience preferred
  • Comfortable working in a relatively unstructured, project-based and multi-cultural environment
  • Engage senior stakeholders across the bank on projects
