Position Description

Background: The successful candidate will be joining the Global Rates and Currencies technology team, which has a proven track record of delivering critical front-office trading solutions to the Global Rates and Currencies businesses. The candidate will be working in Global Rates and Currencies technology, helping to analyze, design, build and deploy multi-tier, high availability systems, globally deployed systems.

The current team structure is global, spread over London, Singapore and the US. As a group, we communicate at all levels within the organization.
The Application suite is a global trading system developed internally by Global Derivatives Technology and is used by the Global Rates and Currencies business. It provides trade capture and full life-cycle functionality for interest rate derivatives products to a diverse user-base including client services, finance, middle office and trading. The system has been in production globally since 2001 and is the core system for interest rate derivatives within the bank.
An array of new features needs to be developed. Strong software engineering skills are required as this is role is not restricted to understanding the technology, but also the business requirements and architectural vision of the platforms. Knowledge of any of the following business areas encompassing Interest Rate Swaps, Bonds, IR Swap Options, FX Cash and FX Cash options is desired but not a must have. The candidate will be experienced in working with an agile delivery model and be good at communicating with other developers both in EMEA and the US as part of a global team.

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be a C++ developer capable of taking existing production architecture and changing requirements into stride, and then come up with cohesive, intelligent and logical solutions to problems, that not only meet the immediate requirements of the global business, but also provide an avenue for further extension.
  • Excellent team working and communication skills are a must.

Key Requirements
  • Candidates must have hands on server side development skills in C++, with 3+ years of working experience on Linux / UNIX environment.
  • Candidate must have a good understanding data structures, algorithms and experience in using STL containers and algorithms in multithreaded C++ server environments.
  • Candidates must have actively used design patterns in the past implementations and demonstrate strong understanding on design patterns of why and where a pattern should be used.
  • Strong understanding of a RDBMS. Must have an understanding of writing complex SQL, stored procedures, applying referential integrity & performance tuning.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills with a desire to learn and deliver.
  • Candidate must be a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Candidate should have ability to critique the design / implementation of fellow team members, and provide them with technical direction.
  • Understanding C++ Boost, C++11/14/17
  • Understanding of Core Java / Python / JavaScript
  • Scripting experience (Shell, Perl, Ruby etc.)
  • Experience of working in Front office systems
  • Business domain knowledge in interest rates swaps
