Job Purpose:
The Regional Digital Bank Business Development Head will be the leader responsible for defining and implementing Citi's Digital Bank strategy in Asia. The Digital Bank strategy includes defining both the proprietary digital go-to-market strategy for a digital only banking service offering, and also defining and executing the multiple partnership archetypes in the open banking space that will lead to client-led profitable scale building.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Bank Strategy Development:
  • Create a compelling vision, strategy and executable action plan for building scale in the business across the region by leveraging digital capabilities
  • Define in partnership with the product teams the business model and economics of a viable Digital Bank proposition
  • Integrated Digital Only Bank Offer
  • Define digital only value proposition, delineate target market
  • Outline go-to-market model
  • Establish pilots across markets to test-learn and scale business rapidly
Digital Partnerships/Open Banking:
  • Craft business model economics (in partnership with product teams) to define offer palette and new models spectrum and pitch book
  • Complete market scan and partner prioritization
  • Lead and execute partnership agreements to build the open banking business across all Consumer capabilities
  • Conduct implementation of partnership agreements in collaboration with product, technology, etc. teams at the regional and local level
  • Explore partnerships with financial and non-financial institutions to scale the cards, loans, basic banking and Citigold/Wealth Management businesses


The ideal Candidate will meet the following requirements:
  • Thought leadership and domain expertise in digital banking and financial services
  • In-depth understanding of digital ecosystems (e.g., social media, e-commerce)
  • Transaction management and execution skills (distribution or M&A) valued
  • Deep product and banking business economic dynamics
  • Project leadership and management
  • Technology/API architecture understanding a plus
  • Extensive Asia region experience and advantage
  • Corporate / Strategic Partnership relationship management
  • Multi-market experience in a multi-national organization preferred
  • Robust strategic, analytic and problem solving skills
  • Strong execution and disciplined implementation skills of complex projects and engagements
  • Proven ability to operate in a multi-national, matrix or direct management organization
  • Passion for design and delivery of outstanding customer experiences with a strong understanding of how digital technology can enable this
  • Great communicator (verbal, written, presentation), with strong relationship management and influencing skills at local/regional and senior/junior levels
