  • Reporting to the Head of the Asia Pac Intellectual Property, Operations &Technology (IP O&T) Law Group, and part of the global Law Group operating in APAC (Singapore and Mumbai), EMEA (London, Dublin and Belfast), and the US (New York and Tampa. The selected candidate must have related APAC regional experience (preferably with a Financial Institution) to advise on a broad range of Financial Technology, Operations, Outsourcing, IP as well as Data Protection issues, and related APAC legal and regulatory requirements. They will be expected to take the lead in providing legal support in the aforementioned areas to all APAC Citi Consumer or Investment Banking businesses, whilst working closely with Country Legal Counsel and other colleagues across the region (comprising 17 presence countries) and globe.
  • The role includes advising on a broad range of bank initiatives on aspects such as Cybersecurity / Information Security, Export Controls, Records Management, Digital Signatures, Social Media, Outsourcing, Bank Secrecy / Privacy etc., and on a range of technology and services arrangements both with affiliates and third parties.  Scope of work will also include (a) advising on bank regulatory compliance and issues for the APAC franchise around financial technology including e.g. Cloud, Robotic Process Automation, Distributed Ledgers, AI; (b) advising global market and exchange data management teams on market data and exchange contracts and audits; (c) provision of legal advice for regional technology and non-technology sourcing for enterprise-wide businesses and global functions including the establishment and updating of relevant legal templates; (d) advising on general IP related issues for APAC including trademarks and patents; and (e) advising on control and process-related initiatives, as well as assisting with regulatory inspections and audits.


  • This role requires flexibility to adapt a global model to specific and varied local legal, regulatory and business requirements, often across multiple disciplines.  Additional areas of focus including industry body engagement, advising on policy content and impact, providing internal and external training on areas of subject matter expertise, working with other team members to revise current and develop new procedures, precedents and related ways of enhancing the provision of legal support, and understanding and ensuring that contracting arrangements are consistent with applicable Citi policies.
  • This is a role for a lawyer with at least 7 years PQE to be based in Singapore
