Margin Operations within FM is responsible for Collateral Management, Portfolio Reconciliations and Client Valuations, all of which support regulatory commitments that FM has made to its regulators under EMIR, Dodd-Frank and others (e.g. IMM).
The Head of Risk and Controls is responsible for managing the global operational risk, governance and controls agenda and managing senior stakeholders in Operational Risk, Group Internal Audit and others as required.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Representation at management and steering committees within FMO, FM and CIB as required
  • Identify and direct key FMO and FM initiatives and activities relevant to the function such as (but not limited to):
    • Ownership and coordination of RCA, RCR and remediation plans related to operational risk and audit
    • Driving process improvements to improve efficiency and mitigate operational risks
    • Ownership of Operational Risk Framework and conducting annual or ad-hoc reviews with regional operational heads to ensure appropriateness
    • Coordinating and responding to internal and external audits in partnership with regional operational heads
  • As a member of the Margin Operations management team, provide leadership, direction and act as an escalation point as needed (e.g. during major operational incidents)
  • Deputise for Global Head of function as needed, e.g. for FMO Management Committees

  • Financial Markets Operations Management
  • Financial Markets Technology Management
  • Group and Country Legal and Compliance


Qualifications and Skills

  • Operational processes including Risk Management, Resource Planning, Issue Resolution
  • Operational Risk frameworks including sample testing methodologies, risk indicators and control indicators; business impact / risk assessments
  • Collateralized and non-collateralized Financial Markets products (e.g. FX, Rates, Credit, Repo)
  • Emerging business, economic and market trends including industry utilities/landscape (e.g. AcadiaSoft, TriOptima) and experience of leading industry / trade discussions (e.g. ISDA)
  • Key regulations and developments in the market affecting OTC derivatives and collateral (e.g. Dodd-Frank, EMIR)
  • Managing matrix reporting lines and matrix project resources as needed
  • Improving operational efficiency, ability to effectively manage operational risks and to develop control enhancements
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas to Operations and Business Management Teams and Steering Committees
  • Managing / attending to regulatory requests and interviews with timely and accurate responses
