Head, Product Control

This is a senior global role within Finance akin to a Product CFO for controlling and supporting the Commodities business in Financial Markets. The role covers SCB's Commodity trading operations globally in the UK, Americas, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

As a senior member of the broader 'Global PC Top Team' which supports multiple businesses (Financial Markets, Corporate Finance, Principal Finance and Treasury), the role is also responsible for leading strategic business, technology and regulatory initiatives critical to the function.

Key Responsibilities 1. Daily analysis and production of P&L, ensuring integrity of data reported in a controlled environment. 2. Business support in terms of advising on structured transactions, assisting new product launches, providing quality MIS, and accommodating any ad hoc requests. 3. Supporting local finance teams by providing accounting advice, general ledger reconciliation, and product training. 4. Supporting the Financial Markets and Country CFOs in the development and maintenance of a robust control environment around the Commodities product set. 5. Contact point for auditors, both internal and external, and local regulators. 6. Providing MIS around P&L analytics, risk based P&L explanation, and Performance Commentary. Detailed planning and budgetary support will be required. 7. Responsible for the implementation of and compliance with the Group Accounting Policy. Responsible for continued development and testing of a Business Continuity Plan in so far as it relates to Commodities. Development of consistent booking models across the Bank's transaction processing systems. Supporting the business in understanding RWA drivers and identifying opportunities for optimisation - ensuring quality numbers from local teams and assisting the business with understanding their balance sheet and RWA drivers. Working closely with the Valuation Control team to ensure sound valuation practices and ensuring an effective handshake between PC-VC for effective end-to-end controls Implementation of the Operational Risk Framework for Commodities PC and ensuring robust monitoring through KCSA (Key Control Self Assessments), (CST (Control Sample Testing), Key Control and Key Risk indicators. Implementation of offshoring plans in adherence to local and regional regulatory rules and providing leadership to the offshore product control team Supporting the Group Head of Product Control in the implementation of key Business, Finance, Technology and Regulatory initiatives which are critical to the PC-VC function Represent the PC function at key governance committees Key Stakeholders The role requires interaction with and influencing Senior stakeholders across the Bank in Finance, Market Risk, COO, Compliance, Operations and Technology.
