Head of Core Banking (Director)

A prestigious Regional Bank looking for an experience hire to lead their Core Banking team. You will be responsible for influencing the development of the service strategies and standards and oversee the service availability, capacity planning and performance management of the core banking application services.

Key Requirements:

    • Work alongside the Relationship Manager, Demand Manager and the business to understand their key drivers and metrics to better assess the potential for Information Technology (IT) solutions or changes to enhance the business and advice relevant IT teams of the potential for future projects
    • Analyse business requests and needs, guide the business to fully flesh out the intention, objectives, benefits and key performance indicators of the request, and create full user requirements for communicating to the vendor locally, regionally or globally
    • Identify the responsible areas cost saving, income generating opportunities that could be exploited to increase business profitability
    • Lead and deliver industry leading services supporting the business agreed service levels for the core banking platforms
    • Lead, manage and develop the platforms, creating a customer-focused service culture that responds to customer needs and expectations
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement that proactively and reactively manages the resolution of serious and complex problems, identifies their underlying causes and changes the processes and procedures appropriately
    • Define and manage appropriate vendor sourcing strategies, including outsourced services, to the agreed service levels, maximising value and performance on behalf of the bank
    • At least 15 years' team management experience, typically overseeing the development team, business analysts team and project managers
    • Prior experience in managing core banking ecosystem (e.g. core banking software SIBS – Silverlake Integrated Banking System, BDS – Branch Delivery System, and consumer banking operations
    • Experience in and knowledge of loans (including limits and collateral), deposit business and product knowledge is preferred
    • Exposure to current trends and technology such as: componentisation, implementation of micro-services layer, integration with data analytics is preferred
    • Good leadership skills evidenced by the achievement of objectives together with a track record of implementing best practices, leveraging the use and management of technology
    • Ability to plan and organise effectively as well as adopt a flexible approach to change

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology or a related field.

  • Significant experience of working in Information Technology or business area

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on technical and business with solid knowledge of Information Technology systems supporting the Customer Group business

  • Proficiency in the Customer Group business strategy, process and internal procedures

  • Clear understanding and experienced in Core Banking or related business departments

  • Good command of written, verbal, and interpersonal communication aptitude

  • Excellent analytical skill and influence skill
