Position Description
Background: The Markets Application Production Services (MAPS) group is a global group responsible for the management of production systems across Global Markets Technology. The group works closely with the business and provides application support. The group closely interacts with the development and infrastructure teams to manage all changes to the production environment. MAPS has a strong focus on operational excellence and process improvement.

The successful candidate will join a global team based in several locations whose primary focus will be providing support for Global Markets Operations Technology platforms. The candidate needs to be a dynamic problem solver working in a high-pressure environment that demands strong global partnerships, well developed technical & financial expertise and a strict adherence to process guidelines. They must have the ability to rationalize the impact of multiple concurrent issues/requests and prioritize work accordingly. Demonstrate confidence, focus & adaptable communication style required to effectively coordinate restoration efforts for high-impact technology incidents. Coach and mentor a distributed regional team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Join a team responsible for providing a stable platform for the global securities middle and back-office businesses
  • Interact closely with regional and global business users and other groups in Technology to ensure issues are addressed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Ability to correlate events across multiple systems to proactively surface and resolve deep, underlying issues
  • Troubleshoot production issues to identify root causes and track issues to their completion.
  • Work closely with developers and business analysts who are not in the region to plan system rollout and application updates, provide feedback on production system performance, and investigate production problems and identify solutions.
  • Manage serious outages in production by interfacing between business, developers, infrastructure teams and management. Main tasks include: provide communication, take remedial actions to resolve outage, provide information to business to alleviate knock-on impact, work on post-mortem and follow-up actions for root cause identification, recurrence prevention, and any improvement in problem detection and resolution.
  • Candidates should be prepared to work out of normal business hours such as on weekends and attend night calls according to business needs.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential production problems in all supporting systems and escalate them to relevant parties if necessary. Suggest improvements to existing processes for support both locally and globally

Key Requirements
  • 5+ years banking industry experience in a production services role
  • Educated to degree level in engineering or science discipline
  • Familiarity with ITIL and/or Six Sigma, Lean process methodologies
  • Operating systems: Solaris, Linux, Windows
  • Scripting languages: Unix Shell, Perl, Python, VBA
  • Languages: C, C#, C++, Java
  • Databases: SQL, Oracle
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, system backup and restoration methods
  • Well rounded understanding of infrastructure disciplines (network, server, storage, messaging)
  • Experience with ITRS, Java VM, Windows and Autosys scheduling

Other relevant areas would include:
  • Product knowledge: Equity and Fixed Income transaction management, client allocation processing, clearing and settlement of securities
  • Familiarity with agile development concepts
  • Ability to work with development and support teams across different regions
  • A good team player but also able to work independently with strong problem solving skills and work well in matrix management environments.
  • Good verbal and communication skills are necessary
