The Lead Engineer leads the definition of the Target State Architecture for a specific business unit or infrastructure layer. The Lead Engineer ensures adherence to rules and defined roadmap, provides horizontal oversight, architectural and technical governance, is responsible for longevity, scalability and resiliency of technical solutions

Details of the Division and Team: 

FIC Technology team is responsible for managing technology related to FX, Emerging markets, Rates, Credit and Listed Derivatives businesses. GNS manages the design, deployment, operations and maintenance of the Network estate in all DB offices as well as in Core and Colo data centers.  This role will have dual reporting into FIC Technology and GNS divisions.

Your key responsibilities:   

  • Provide expert level network engineering to support a wide range of deployment activities with a focus on routing and switching and the Cisco product line. Support both routine changes and large projects in colocation facilities, data center, extranets, and the trading floor. Projects will range from the design and build-outs of new locations and silos to the rollout of new features and functionality for global initiatives in support of global market data applications, financial systems and infrastructure involving high volume low latency securities trading.
  • The engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions leveraging and expanding on existing design standards, liaising with internal customers as required, raising changes as needed and deploying new technologies as required by the project. He/she will also responsible for delivering the requisite level of network resiliency and for testing network failover.
  • Additionally, the engineer will support project managers and the regional management team in project planning, tracking, and reporting when required. Lastly, he/she is expected to mentor junior team members as well as train in areas of subject matter expertise.

Your skills and experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a corporate global network environment, including 5 years in financial institutions
  • Expertise in routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRF, NAT, ACL’s and IP Multicast routing
  • Experience in building/ supporting extranet and colo (low latency and high frequency) including multicast market data and L1 matrix switching, Netoptics taps and Corvil latency analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strict adherence to change procedures and design/ configuration guidelines
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and support multiple projects
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity
  • Self-starter and disciplined in your approach to work
  • Ability to evaluate emerging risks and solid business judgment
  • Cisco CCNP or CCDP certified (Routing and Switching preferred)
  • Strong experience multicast market data
  • Experience in on-boarding trading clients, exchange/venue and network service providers
  • Experience real-time messaging
  • Hands-on experience with CISCO ASR/ISR routers, Nexus 3K and 5K, and Catalyst 2K, 3K, 4K and 6K platforms
  • Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, Netflow
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel and Visio
  • Cisco CCIE certified (Routing and Switching preferred)
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certified
  • Experience supporting traders and trade support staff
  • Familiarity with SAN, databases, and other IT technologies outside of networks
  • Project management awareness, including developing bill of materials for project cost proposals, task management (JIRA)
  • Awareness privacy or regulatory procedures and standards that are required in the financial services industry
