Position Overview

As the Credit Risk Officer you will join the Business Aligned Risk Management (BRM) Credit Team for Loans and Structured Credit and Distressed product Group supports Global Credit Trading within Global Markets. You will be based in Singapore and be responsible for transactions originated/ domiciled in South East Asia and part of a global team with regional representation in APAC. The South East Asia team currently manages a portfolio of >₠500m with approximately 35 borrowers under defined portfolio caps and limits.

BRM Credit supports GCT APAC in the following:

  • Loans and Structured Credit (non-flow new originations, corporate and leveraged lending in bilateral and syndicated loans, commercial real estate and project financing)
  • Distressed Product Group (secondary market loan trading book, new money banking book, loan restructurings and direct equity investments)

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of existing transactions including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Produce annual credit and rating reviews
    • Monitor performance - review key information undertakings/covenant compliance, waiver and amendment requests, contribute to regular portfolio reviews and recommendations for watch list
    • Comply with risk policy standards and framework and prepare for audits
  • Assess credit for new transactions including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Interface with Front Office (based in Singapore) for new deal screening with a view on operating environment, business, financial and management risks; propose structural mitigants to reduce embedded risks
    • Complete due diligence by attending onsite management meetings, review independent financial, commercial and technical analysis; stress test models with downside scenario analysis; review loan agreements
    • Review credit memos, write and present credit recommendation to Credit Committee, propose ratings, LGD and recovery analysis
  • Collaborate with other areas within the Bank including the front office and support functions, i.e. Market Risk, Regulatory and Advisory, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations, including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Review legal documentation including term sheets and facility agreements
    • Comply with risk policy framework, internal reporting, audit and regulatory requirements
    • Monitor market, industry and counterparty developments; adhere to counterparty and industry strategies

Key skills:
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a credit risk management function, preferably in middle market loans, large corporates, leveraged loans, commercial real estate or project finance
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Detail focused with strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present information in a structured, clear and concise way
