S&D Research Manager|Top MNC|Edible Oils and Rubber

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Analyst supporting the Asia Edible Oils / Rubber Trading team as well as the Global Research Department. The main focus in the Asian region.
  • Assist trading team in developing models forecasting regional grains supply and demand.
  • Responsible for coordinating and collating research data from the regional offices across UAE, USA, Europe, Asia.
  • Gather market information, put together in a specified format and lead discussions with the trading team by recommending trade ideas based on a fundamental and technical analysis.
  • Maintain and update Global Balance Sheets for edible oil and rubber
  • Data collection, management, analysis, and dissemination:
  • Collection and regular updates from published, field and market data on supply and demand in Edible Oils. The inclusion of weather, alternative crop production, macroeconomic factors, crude oil, government biodiesel mandates, stocks, imports, and demand etc. for Palm Oil will be collected and analyzed.
  • For Rubber, verification of the official figures on planting and replanting from independent sources to check supply accuracy. Work on supply curve elasticity for various growing countries and predict the reaction to price changes. Compare substitution of natural rubber to synthetic rubber depending on crude oil and SBR prices and medium and long-term trends in the tire industry.
  • Regularly meet trade participants, suppliers, producers, growers and other researchers in oil complex and natural rubber for their assessments and build into own predictions.
  • Supervise analyst who will provide the back-end outputs.

  • Attention to detail and rigor in statistical data collection and maintenance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external traders and analysts to glean information and to discuss and exchange views & ideas.
  • Good communication skills to be able to succinctly present lots of complex data in a simple manner & form.
Job Requirements
  • Qualification: Engineering / Economics Degree from a premier institution.
  • Experience: 6-8 years preferably in commodities.
  • Analysis: knowing critical variables affecting S&D, prices and basic relationships and analyzing the current and future likely impact.
  • Model building: Relevant to price, S&D forecasts
  • Quantitative/statistical analysis
  • Expert usage of excel
  • High order of analytical & conceptual skills.
  • Ability to handle and interpret large amounts of data.
