The Role Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all regulatory opinions comply with the appropriate governance requirements
  • To reinforce the independence of the risk functions from those whose primary responsibility is to maximize short-term revenues and profit
  • Point of contact for risk on regulatory issues, including driving any relevant initiatives put forward by Risk functions
  • Evaluate and comment on the rules / regulations / consultation papers issued by regulatory authorities
  • Deal with and comment on regular submissions / ad-hoc surveys, regulatory information requests / enquires / inspection, and work with regulators to provide appropriate responses to their queries
  • Ownership of large exposure policy / procedures / standards in country, and the monitoring of exposures to large exposure groups daily in accordance to requirements set out in the relevant regulations in Singapore
  • Ensuring that changes in risk related group policies and standards does not impact the compliance status of the bank
  • Review / challenge / opine of country specific risk weight computation methodologies, along with any proposed changes to the risk weight computation engine
  • Ensure that opinions on RWA initiatives and transaction approvals originating from group are within what is allowed by local regulations
  • Ownership of relevant risk related regulatory annual attestation processes

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree from reputable institution
  • 5+ years of experience in a financial institution
  • Good numerical and analytical skill. Able to summarise complex results efficiently Strong oral and written communication
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements and expectation; in depth knowledge of the levers of risk weight and large exposure regulations
  • Demonstrated ability for problem solving, working independently and attention to detail; ability to use discretion and independent judgments; ability to understand impacts of adverse economic and market scenarios
  • Substantial experience at the highest level in the banking industry; In depth knowledge of Corporate Banking Products such as Trade Finance, Corporate Lending, Derivatives is a fundamental requirement; experience in working on complex structures is a strong plus
  • Understands complex interactions between economic and operational factors and their resulting impact to product, business line and financial results and position of the Bank
  • Dedicated to information integrity and to producing high quality and insightful output and hitting deadlines where applicable
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks successfully and efficiently in a fast paced, regulatory driven environment
  • Experience with implementation of Basel standards and the implications thereof the issues relating to regulatory compliance and financial reporting, and how these issues translate into requirements for management information
  • Experience with communicating with relevant external stakeholders, such as the MAS
  • Regulatory Framework and Requirements: Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates
  • Strong understanding of governance requirements
