Position Description
Bank of America Merrill Lynch is seeking to hire a Risk and Control Manager to lead the Global Banking and Markets (GBAM) Operations Risk & Controls organization in Asia Pacific towards having sound controls and quality assurance routines in place within the Bank's Risk Management Framework. The Risk & Controls team collaborates organizationally and across regions to integrate risk management routines and strategies that simplify the operating environment and transform the business. We are focused on delivering sound risk management routines with operational excellence, a strong risk framework and employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Be a trusted advisor to the GBAM Operations leadership in APAC, helping identify and address needs of the organization related to Risk Management

  • Drive issue identification and management activities across GBAM Operations in APAC, along with thematic analysis of issues identified.
  • Ensure issues are identified, managed effectively and remediated in a timely manner as per original schedule.
  • Lead risk management governance and routines for the APAC GBAM Operations organization
  • Lead and drive process improvements across risk management activities in the region
  • Support reporting needs and data analysis of risk management information
  • Participate in policy review and deployment activities across GBAM Operations in APAC, working jointly with Compliance and the divisions on the review and implementation of changes
  • Lead routines to ensure compliance with policies and regulations
  • Participate and/or lead control assessments across the organization, utilizing experience in Operations and Risk Management to deliver value to the organization.
  • Oversee and establish management routines related to the Process Risk & Controls (PRC) inventory for GBAM Operations in APAC
  • Lead management routines focused on assessing the control effectiveness performance for the PRC inventory of GBAM Operations in APAC, along with any required remediation activities.
  • Actively participate in GT&O COO organization routines and support regional initiatives, as required
  • Oversee GBAM Operations COO organization staff in region

Key Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; must be able to appropriately convey ideas, concerns and opinions across differing levels of management
  • Is intellectually curious; constantly seeks to learn and advance his/her knowledge
  • Must be pro-active, enthusiastic, flexible, results driven with attention to detail
  • A proven leader with experience leading Operations, Risk Management or Project Management professionals
  • Operations and/or risk management experience
  • Ability to influence others and lead across multiple organizations and jurisdictions.
  • Strong teamwork skills in a global and regional setting.
  • Highly organized individual - Demonstrates a bias for action and a commitment to achieving sustainable results. Makes timely and fact based decisions
  • Manages the risk reward trade off; follows the proper risk routines to get the right outcomes for the business. Successful candidate MUST have a strong risk framework and approach
  • Demonstrates a commitment for continuous learning; challenges the status quo and is passionate and capable of driving change across the organization
