System Engineer (Linux)

The Linux System Administrator is responsible for operations support of the Linux server based enterprise infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: management and support of enterprise scale & heterogeneous environments.

  • Experience providing Linux (Redhat / CentOS) systems administration support for large scale complex Unix environment with multivendor SAN/NAS
  • Install, configure, document and maintain Linux (Redhat / CentOS) operating systems, applications, VMware ESX
  • Good experience with VMWare ESX and vCenter
  • Prior experience with Linux kickstart, repository and spacewalk jumpstart services
  • Provide performance tuning, capacity planning, automation and documentation for systems and applications
  • Collaborate as a knowledge leader in the specification, design and deployment of Unix infrastructure
  • Follow up with Engineering and Security teams on new requirements and apply them in APAC
  • Develop knowledge on hardware requirements for FIS Global Trading set up
  • Support developers, database administrators, service providers and data center operations staff
  • Perform back up, file replications and script management for servers
  • Test and apply new software and maintenance patches, including patch management services
  • Complete security audits on a routine basis
  • Administrative scripting with Perl and Shell
  • Monitoring and maintenance of servers
  • Manage datacenter environment, delivery and installation of new hardware
  • Off-shift work with rotating on-call coverage

Nice-to-Have Experience:
  • Shell scripting and/or Perl scripting
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity in Unix environment
