We are looking for a senior Engineer to assume the role of Lead Developers You will be responsible for helping to build our agile organization and align to a culture of continuous improvement, partnership, trust and sharing. As a full-time developer on a product scrum team, you will facilitate engineering maturity, agile process leadership, and project delivery excellence supporting your team and its software engineers. Along with the other developers, you will partner with your Product Management and Quality peers to support the product line capabilities that are trusted to your team.

Fundamental to this position is a demonstrable ability to combine your strong agile leadership and problem solving skills with deep technical, agile leadership and delivery know how. You have exceptional collaboration and communication skills, are highly motivated, creative and engaged. As a servant leader, you will enable experienced engineers and the teams they support to drive business value while your organization focuses on, planning, building, improving, innovating and contributing to the product vision.

The Lead Developer role is a key developer role on the scrum team. While the responsibilities listed below are equally applicable to all developers, the expectation is that you will ensure these things are executed and follow best practices and standards within across scrum team.
  • Drive the technical solution design process, coordinate design reviews with architecture and community leadership and ensure that the solution accounts for non-functional requirements (NFR)
  • Ensure that automated unit tests are created and executed by the developer
  • Perform and facilitate code reviews and ensure that all technical story artifacts are completed as required by UCL
  • Monitor and resolve technical issues (code quality, stability, security, performance, etc.) that arise. Ensure accurate and timely escalation of risks trough the appropriate channels
  • Identify and help to mitigate areas or issues that lead to high defect counts such as:
    • Vague or changing requirements
    • Gaps in developer's skillsets
    • Poor code reviews
    • No adherence to the UCL
  • Serve as technical point of contact on the team to help distribute messages. (e.g. Ensuring guidelines, standards and cascaded information is passed distributed to scrum team)
  • Ensure that stories meet DOR & DOD from a development perspective by making sure that they are completed within a sprint without carryover and ensure that all dependencies are achievable during the planned sprint, internal and external
  • Ensure active participation from all dev team members in grooming and sprint planning sessions such that:
    • The story descriptions and acceptance criteria are understandable, actionable and achievable
    • They can review and provide inputs on automated and manual test plans created by QA & UAT to help refine the test approach and identify specifics combinations (of users, subscriptions, browsers, environments, etc.) that might be missing from the plan
  • Identify and help to mitigate any external dependencies (e.g. data dependencies)
  • Attend all Scrum of Scrum (SOS) meetings to represent Technology and help improve developer collaboration and communication across teams working in common areas
  • Ensure smooth onboarding of new developers to the team by making sure that they understand the technology, the role that everyone plays on the team and helping them get up to speed

With these products you will help our global team of Ratings Analysts, Methodology and Criteria specialists create world class ratings & research across more than 90 global economies enabling them to create and test hypothetical 'what if' credit-risk scenarios and perform a host of other critical analytical tasks.

This product line includes the content & publishing systems that we use do distribute our high-quality market intelligence in the form of credit ratings, research, and thought leadership. It also comprises a series of carefully curated enterprise data stores, data services, data analytics and BI products that collectively support our global ratings business to create & publish world class ratings, research and related content across more than 90 global economies.
Business impact [Issuer Portals]
Be part of building our suite of externally and internally facing portal products including Ratings360™, a flagship Ratings product. This product brings together a unique combination of credit ratings, risk research and critical insights that help issuers stay informed, plan ahead and drive efficiency into their workflows. As an industry wide, best-in-breed product offering, Ratings360™ surfaces a holistic picture of credit stories covering more than 90 global economies. With this product, you will help our issuers efficiently assess the critical risk factors behind an organization's credit rating and make decisions with conviction.
Business impact [Workflow & Controls]
This product line includes our core business workflow products and business controls that implement global regulatory guardrails including fine grained entitlements, business process enterprise-wide context-based security entitlement services.

Responsibilities
  • Support and foster a quality-first, agile culture that is built on partnership, trust and sharing
  • Build, coach and develop a large team of experienced engineers to successfully execute the role by developing their careers and skills
  • Learning and understanding all aspects of your product-line and the Ratings business
  • Responsible for helping define the vision, driving team execution, and overseeing the engineering process. This will require strong leadership capabilities, as well as the ability to roll-up-your-sleeves to ensure alignment across technology, product and business stakeholders
  • Be technically deep and provide input on architecture, design and code. As a thought leader, you are well respected by engineers and non-engineers alike
  • Drive strong partnerships between engineering teams and Product owners , including business stakeholders in the Ratings organization
  • Be responsible for driving technical design, architecture and implementation of new features and iterations of core products
  • Support Product Managers and groups of SCRUM teams with technical coordination of complex inter-product dependencies including release management and delivery execution
  • Partner with product management and stakeholders to define the roadmaps, plan and report on technical programs that cut across the entire organization
  • In partnership with PMO and operations teams, drive and mature release management, scaled agile, consistent metrics and efficient processes
Experience & Qualifications:
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 5+ years of experience with 5+ years of experience designing and building non-trivial solutions relevant to your product line
  • 5+ years in the relevant full stack development experience relevant to your product line, for example Issuer Portals modern web development technologies, Java/J2EE, Hibernate, Microsoft .NET, Microsoft Office Automation including development of complex Excel models using modern and legacy Microsoft & Java solutions, Python, R, Spark, REST/OData, AWS, Tomcat, JMS, SQL, Oracle
  • 4+ Hands-on experience contributing to application architecture & designs, proven software/enterprise integration design patterns and full-stack knowledge including modern distributed front end and back end technology stacks
  • Quality first mindset with a strong background and experience with developing products for a global audience at scale
  • Excellent analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with strong ability to influence both technology and business partners
  • Financial services industry experience
Preferred qualifications
  • Deep knowledge and commitment to CI/CD and Agile/XP and modern design principles such as 12 factor app
  • Expert in cloud based development methodologies and state of the art design patterns
  • Experience with building and supporting solutions in the cloud including a strong understanding of cloud native architectures, design patterns and best practices
  • Lead the implementation of strategy roadmap for the enterprise data and content; including data architecture, build and data management for enterprise data, maturity of Ratings digital content store and advanced data analytics systems
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding and experience in the Agile large projects & programs including promotion of continuous improvement through assessment and action planning
  • Experience with open source and distributed software development
  • Up to date and knowledgeable in technology and industry trends with ability to develop and presents substantive technical recommendations to senior management
