CME are looking for two contractors to be part of our Virtualization and Automation team, where you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, application publishing, training, monitoring and day to day support of our various Citrix VDI environments in various regions of the world.  Your primary tasks will be focused on maintaining high availability, performance and security of XenApp/XenDesktop and NetScaler infrastructure, but you will also help support our Vmware infrastructure for day to day operations as required.  The requirement is initially for 12 months and due to a very large integration project underway. There is a high possibility of extension.

Essential Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Management and deployment of Citrix Xenapp/XenDesktop 7.6 LTSR or higher, NetScaler, Storefront, Delivery Controllers and associated components
  • Level 1 - 3 support of our various Citrix VDI environments
  • Publish proprietary applications to XenApp and perform upgrades as necessary
  • Upgrade and patch Citrix environment and associated components as required
  • Manage and maintain all Citrix related GPOs
  • Automate, facilitate, manage virtualized workloads using Vmware technologies
  • Operate in a small, dedicated, focused global team
  • Operate in a very entrepreneurial manner with extreme customer focus
  • Automate provisioning, deployment and configuration of virtual desktop infrastructure
  • Proactive monitoring and administration of VDI infrastructure
  • Improve VDI infrastructure and processes for higher levels of availability and scalability
  • Co-develop solutions with the business groups/development teams
  • Act as a liaison between our customers and support teams
  • Ensure that customer deployed environments are secure and consistent.
Desired Characteristics
  • Proven experience designing, deploying or operating virtualized applications / infrastructure in a Citrix VDI environment running on Vmware
  • Strong Windows and Linux system administration skills (patching, configuration, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (routers, switches, firewalls, load-balancers)
  • Scripting skills in one or more of the following are preferred; Ruby, Python, Bash, Perl
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve under pressure
  • Self-motivated with a desire to contribute to a team environment
  • Experience with DevOps related tools, practices, and culture
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Netscaler expertise with NitroAPI, Smart Access, AppFirewall, AAA, 2FA
  • One or more relevant certifications; VCP5+, VCAP5+, VCIX5+, VCDX5+, CCE-N/V, CCP-N/V, CCA-N/V
  • LoginVSI experience
  • Citrix Cloud experience
Required experience:
  • Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp 7.6 VDI; 3-5 years minimum in large scale environment of 500+ desktops
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and support of Vmware vSphere 6.0 or higher
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and support of Citrix suite of products, such as provisioning server, desktop delivery control, virtual desktop images/target devices
  • Persistent and non-persistent desktop experience
  • Development of standard operating procedures for VDI environments
  • Experience with securing virtual solutions
  • Netscaler expertise with Access Gateway
  • Powershell expertise required
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Chef, SCCM etc).
  • Expert knowledge of PVS, UPM, WEM and App layering
  • Storage experience
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architectures and deployment
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Citrix Director, Citrix MAS, Splunk, vROPs, Solarwinds
