CME Group are looking for experienced developers to work alongside the CME Engineering and Execution (E&E) team in Belfast in the Enterprise Data Flows Team. This is a very exciting time to join an autonomous and growing team. You will be able to help us deliver advances in our big data platforms enhancing CME's Market Data offerings.

The consultant will contribute to technology advances in CME's enterprise data platform. They will be responsible for the deployment and configuration of a new Enterprise Data Catalogue that must have rock-solid reliability and integrity across on-premise, and multiple cloud environments. They will configure connectivity to multiple data sources from on-premise databases to cloud storage services. An understanding of both the underlying technology and the development, testing, and deployment lifecycle of the applications will be critical. The successful joiner must be able to solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and work both independently and collaboratively.

Principal Accountabilities
Deployment and configuration of the enterprise data catalogue
Working with analysts to decompose high level requirements for new features into concise, descriptive stories, and provides input to estimation
Participates in code reviews, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues and defects.
Works alongside Test Engineers to ensure rock solid reliability
Follows team defined processes; advocates opportunities for improvements.
Embraces and enforces CME Group SDLC and information security standards.

Essential Criteria

Bachelor's degree (with honours) or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute
Knowledge of java language, DBMS and middle-ware technologies in independently designing and developing key services
Experience with Unix operating systems.
Basic database knowledge
Basic Network connectivity knowledge
Knowledge of basic AWS technologies, S3, EMR, EC2.
Experience of REST API development.

Desirable Criteria
Knowledge of Cloudera Hadoop, Yarn, Solr, HBase, Zookeeper
Some experience/awareness about BI Tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, SAP BO
Knowledge of financial markets and working with financial applications
Knowledge of financial messaging protocols, and in particular FIX.
Experience coding in a story-driven, agile environment. (using Confluence, JIRA, or other Atlassian tools)
