We're looking for an Analyst to join us in Edinburgh or Belfast

What you'll do

Fraud tactics and threats are constantly changing, and it's a continuing challenge to outwit criminals. As an Analyst your remit will cover first and third party fraud models in our Personal & Business Banking function. You'll work closely with our first line fraud analytics teams, developing models in response to the patterns and threats they identify, or based on intelligence from other sources. As part of the broader Risk Analytics and Models function you'll have the opportunity to broaden your experience and share knowledge with colleagues building capital, and operational models.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Data extraction, analysis, statistical modelling and monitoring to support our business stakeholders
  • Documenting projects, and presenting analysis clearly and comprehensively, in line with policy
  • Developing effective networks and relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise and contributing to the broader success of Risk Analytics and Modelling function

The skills you'll need

We're looking for analytical strength and a pro-active approach, delivered with rigour and insight. You should have a relevant academic background with an undergraduate degree in a strongly numerate subject such as Mathematics or Statistics. Further postgraduate study would be an advantage.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • Experience of undertaking statistical or mathematical modelling and data-driven analysis
  • A good knowledge of SAS and SQL, or analogous languages e.g. R, MATLAB or VBA
  • A desire to use analytics to help inform business decisions and serve our customers
  • The ability to communicate concepts to non-technical colleagues across a range of levels
  • A commitment to your personal development
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills

Previous experience in banking or finance is not essential, though you will have an interest in fraud prevention, and a strong understanding of statistical techniques.
