We are hiring a QA Tester to join our brilliant digital team.

Duties. Work. Projects.

You'll join DWP Digital's Benefit Paying Systems (BPS) team as a QA Tester.

You'll also be part of our brilliant Testing practice. We provide test expertise to projects like BPS to assure the delivery of change. We're driving towards test automation for improved assurance and efficiency as we aim to help DWP deliver more and faster.

As part of our small BPS application test team you will work closely with a Technical Delivery Manager to keep our systems up to date with businessm, and legislative changes, programme change, live service maintenance, technical debt and exploitation opportunities.

BPS deliver at pace. Monthly releases are the norm and we use Jira to manage a single backlog, adopting automation where possible to streamline and reduce costs.

It's a big important system for DWP. Our work enables payments of £150bn per year to our 15 million users, including some of the most vulnerable in our society, across 8 benefits.

You will implement a shift left approach which reduces defects as early in the process as possible. You will ensure that the breadth and depth of testing is right for the job. That could manual or automation testing, exception testing and performance testing.

What skills and experience will you need?

  • You can maintain full traceability of defects, tests and requirements.
  • You can identify and drive resolution of defects or issues preventing delivery of testing activities.
  • You can develop and maintain reusable test collateral and services.
  • You communicate well with other teams and share knowledge and lessons learned.
  • You have experience of managing other test analysts.
  • Test scripting and manual test execution
  • You understand Agile and Waterfall delivery principles, methodology and tools.
