Technology Asset Manager

We are looking for a talented Technology Asset Manager to join our Infrastructure Engineering community and help deliver a once-in-a-generation digital transformation of these services.

Our Technology Asset Managers are delivering a transformed function using new and improved processes and tools. This brings new, exciting and challenging opportunities.

You'll manage, control and optimise the IT technology assets required to support and maintain DWP's infrastructure solutions and services. You will be part of a team of TAM specialists who ensure TAM services are implemented, delivered and applied to the best possible effect for DWP and the many millions who use our services.

Duties. Work. Projects.

The TAM team work with and support stakeholders across Digital, Finance and Commercial teams and suppliers to provide TAM services.

In this role you'll work with our Technology Services team. Technology Services provide the foundations upon which digital services for DWP are developed and operate. Our purpose is to deliver secure, effective and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and to run live IT operations that support DWP business objectives. We do this by putting users and quality of service at the heart of what we do.

Our TS team is made up of 1,500 colleagues working collaboratively across 10 portfolio-led teams in a fast-moving environment.

You will need be skilled in multiple disciplines - a role model in technology asset management with proven experience in the design, development and implementation of TAM services and management of TAM tools. You'll support infrastructure operations and be responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality TAM services.

You will have responsibility for hardware and software assets through all stages of the asset management lifecycle and for all underpinning policies & processes.

You will manage the team through prioritisation of requirements to procurement. You'll lead on and oversee more complex procurements across their lifecycle. You will manage the resource and non-resource Cost Models for specific procurements, providing financial management and reporting. You will lead on stakeholder management and issue resolution.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

A strong candidate will be able to demonstrate the essential criteria listed below:

  • Significant experience of changing and improving in a technical management environment.
  • Significant experience of communicating and influencing at different levels across a range of stakeholder, suppliers and vendors and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrate leadership, experience of leading, supporting and mentoring the development of team members to successfully deliver high quality outcomes that meet customer needs and provide value for money.
  • Experience of managing a quality service in particular in relation to managing technology assets.
  • Evidence of Technical Breadth across software and hardware technologies.
  • Evidence of Technical Breadth across Hardware & Software Asset Lifecycle Management and Licensing Management.
