Job Description Summary
Our Finance Software Engineering team are looking for an experienced, passionate Service Management Lead to develop overall Service Management strategy and establish Service principles, disciplines, standards and processes within our Bristol Engineering Labs.

Job Description

Representing Service Delivery, you'll champion the availability of service for our customers & colleagues.

Working to CFO level, you'll lead a small, dedicated team of Cost (Procurement), Incident & Risk Management Engineers, supporting Lab Engineering Leads and Product Owners.

You'll have responsibility for leading & developing Operational Run capability, delivering cost-efficient software and building serviceability into the design & architecture of new solutions - while minimising risk.

This will require current experience of or a background in Risk Management - considerable knowledge of implementation risks and considerations, including: run budget/cost management, vendor management, resource supply and demand, regulatory compliance and quality management

What will also be important, will be your ability to coach and support the development of others & provide valuable insights into the performance of existing software solutions - ensuring that Labs prioritise effectively between existing issues and new features from their Product backlogs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Incident/Problem Management & Insights

•Identify, understand and analyse new trends and issues in live software solutions

•Ensure software solutions adhere to Quality Charter

•Forward planning of system availability via planned outages

•Advising on the prioritisation of defect fixes based on risk / impact alongside other backlog items

•Determine Impact of existing problems

•End to end Recovery planning and management for incidents (planned and unplanned)

Risk Management

•Identification, prevention and mitigation of risks and incidents across the Lab and Value Stream.

•Ensure the Operational needs of the business are taken into account when reviewing new technologies.

Design Support

•Coaches Lab leadership on building serviceability into their initial designs and experiments

•Supports and coaches Engineering Chapter on designing to run - considering wider enterprise / strategies to ensure solution can integrate and maintain simplicity in the day to day operation and support of the service

Prioritisation & Refinement

•Provides a holistic view of operational run architecture, including dependencies or impacts beyond Lab

•Advises Lab Team and Release Management on testing requirements and any associated risks with test plans

•Collaborates with Service Delivery to ensure proactive management of risks to live service and mitigation of issues

•Supports Lab leadership on reporting to external partners (e.g. Group CIO) to communicate changes released from the lab and overall performance of live software

•Are experienced in Operational IT support - you'll understand Production environments, complexities of system architecture and will be able to advise on operational excellence

•Can bring Production Testing expertise - knowledge of system architecture and requirements for thorough testing pre release

•Have current experience of or a background in Risk Management - Strong knowledge of implementation risks and considerations, including: run budget/cost management, vendor management, resource supply and demand, regulatory compliance and quality management

•Have advanced customer & colleague management skills - the ability to influence and seek agreement from senior internal & external customers

•Are able to demonstrate mentoring, people leadership or management experience - you'll be comfortable challenging and mentoring Lab leadership

•Can bring Strategic Thinking - ability to provide holistic view of system architecture and raise considerations / risks at the design stage
